Chicago Fire Adds Dermot Mulroney for Season 13

Chicago Fire Adds Dermot Mulroney for Season 13

As a longtime fan of Chicago Fire, I’m thrilled to welcome Dermot Mulroney to the cast as the new chief at Firehouse 51. With his extensive experience in both television and film, including roles in firefighter dramas like Station 19 and films such as My Best Friend’s Wedding and August: Osage County, Mulroney is a perfect addition to the show.

At Firehouse 51, there will be a new leadership as Dermot Mulroney joins Chicago Fire in Season 13. Announced on Thursday, Mulroney is set to portray Chief Dom Pascal. Previously, he was a respected fire chief in Miami but not entirely unfamiliar with the CFD. As he assumes command at Firehouse 51, Chief Pascal’s unique leadership approach sets him apart from the beloved Chief Wallace Boden, played by Eamonn Walker.

Mulroney joins “Chicago Fire” after Walker’s departure as a regular in the final episode of Season 12. In this episode, Boden was promoted to Deputy Commissioner. He expressed his desire for Herrmann (David Eigenberg) to succeed him at Firehouse 51. However, Herrmann had some requirements to fulfill before he could assume that role.

The addition of Mulroney to the “Chicago Fire” ensemble marks a new development for the show as it gears up for its thirteen-season run. In early June, it emerged that Jocelyn Hudon had been elevated to a regular role in the upcoming season. Hudson, who debuted on the series during Season 12 portraying Lyla Novak – a paramedic at Firehouse 51 who initially hesitated to join but eventually became an indispensable member of the team. “Chicago Fire,” which falls under Dick Wolf’s One Chicago universe, secured its thirteenth season renewal in March.

It’s worth noting that Mulroney isn’t new to firefighter stories on TV. In fact, he made an appearance in Season 2 of ABC’s “Station 19.” Moreover, Mulroney boasts an impressive resume in both television and film. He has graced the screens in movies such as “Anyone But You,” “Scream VI,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” and “August: Osage County.” Additionally, he has made notable appearances on TV shows like “Marvel’s Secret Invasion,” “The Righteous Gemstones,” and “Arrested Development.”

What is Chicago Fire About?

One of Dick Wolf’s One Chicago series, “Chicago Fire,” focuses on the lives – both personal and professional – of the firefighters and paramedics at Chicago Firehouse 51. This station is home to Engine Company 51, Truck Company 81, Rescue Squad Company 3, Battalion 25, and Ambulance 61. The show’s main cast includes Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Hanako Greensmith, Joe Minoso, and more. It was announced earlier this year that “Chicago Fire,” along with “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.,” were renewed for another season.

Chicago Med Has Also Seen Some Shakeups

Chicago Fire isn’t the only One Chicago show undergoing changes. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Chicago Med will welcome a new showrunner for its upcoming tenth season. Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider, who have been co-showrunners since Season 1, are stepping down to pursue other opportunities. Allen MacDonald has been appointed as the replacement showrunner for the new term.

“It was a privilege for us to be selected by Dick Wolf to manage ‘Chicago Med,’ and we’ve truly cherished our collaboration with Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television (as reported by Variety). Our passion for ‘Chicago Med’ has been unwavering, and we’ve poured all our creative efforts into it. However, after nine rewarding seasons, we feel the call to venture into new opportunities. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside an exceptional writing team, production crew, and a talented ensemble of actors. As we bid farewell, we will deeply miss them all.”

“Diane and Andy are greatly appreciated for their contributions to the success of ‘Chicago Med’ on NBC for nine impressive seasons,” Dick Wolf stated. “Thanks to them, we’ve had a consistently high-rating show for nearly ten years.”
