As a devoted admirer of Chick-fil-A’s fast-food prowess, I never thought their expertise would extend beyond crispy chicken sandwiches. Yet, here I stand, astonished by their ambitious plan to venture into uncharted territories – the digital streaming world!
Based on trade reports, it appears that Chick-fil-A has been partnering with significant production companies to develop primarily family-friendly programs, especially in the unscripted genre. Additionally, they are reportedly discussing possibilities for acquiring and licensing content, which could include scripted projects and animation as well.
The reports indicate that creators and production companies who are currently working on content for Chick-fil-A’s platform have been announced – this roster includes a family-friendly game show from Glassman Media, known for NBC’s “The Wall” – along with a ten-episode series order from Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why” executive producer Michael Suger and his Sugar23 imprint. It’s said that Brian Gibson (of “Top Gear” and “The X Factor”) is responsible for the development of these shows; the projected budgets for each half-hour program are roughly $400K.
It’s intriguing to find out if Chick-fil-A will link their new streaming service to their restaurant brand or establish a separate brand identity for it, supported by the restaurant.
Compared to other fast food chains, Chick-fil-A might be seen as more traditional or value-oriented due to its founder’s strong religious beliefs and the company’s business practices reflecting those beliefs, such as closing on Sundays, holidays, and promoting fish sandwiches during Lent. However, its stance against same-sex marriages in the past has caused controversy, leading to changes in its donation practices.
