As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my eagerness for the revival of the timeless animated series, Chowder. The creative genius behind this culinary chaos has hinted at the possibility of a comeback, yet emphasized that some adjustments would be necessary to breathe new life into it. In this modern era, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Animation are pushing boundaries, revisiting classic shows from our cherished past for fresh projects and revivals. Intriguingly, several of these iconic series have made a stunning return, even gracing our screens in a remarkable crossover episode within Jellystone Season 3 – now available on Max!
In this article, ComicBook chats with series creator C.H. Greenblatt about Jellystone wrapping up its episodes (for the time being). But they couldn’t resist asking about one of Greenblatt’s other popular Warner Bros. series, Chowder. Interestingly, the creator hinted at a potential return, stating, “I would definitely be open to it. There have been some pitches for it at Warner. I think it really boils down to timing and finances, but I wouldn’t reject the idea.
Chowder Could Return for New Revival
Greenblatt is open to reviving the show Chowder, but with some changes to make it fresh and relevant. However, it won’t be a complete overhaul or reboot, but rather an evolution or slight tweak to accommodate the growth of the characters and the fact that their voices would have changed. Essentially, it wouldn’t just be a continuation of the old series, but a new take on it that justifies its existence as a fresh version.
For those concerned that Chowder might be aged up in a potential revival, Greenblatt clarified that this isn’t likely. He expressed his preference for keeping Chowder as a child due to the innocence and fun of learning about the world associated with that age. He added that Chowder is very innocent and open, and he feels that this would still be appealing in a revival. However, Greenblatt was happy that they managed to include Chowder in the Jellystone crossover episode.
Chowder Makes a Cameo in Jellystone Season 3
In the “Crisis on Infinite Mirths” crossover episode of Jellystone, Chowder makes a brief appearance in a humorous visual joke and even Truffles has a short speaking role. When questioned about this comeback, the creator explained it was feasible due to bringing in voice actress Tara Strong, who voices Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls. Since one actor is already there for a voice, they can use them for other characters too. So, if we bring someone in, we need to utilize their talents across multiple characters.
The animated series “Chowder” concluded on Cartoon Network in 2010, but its creator seems to have a plan for what might come next if it’s revived. Currently, you can watch the original series on Hulu, and catch up on all new episodes of “Jellystone” streaming exclusively on Max.
