Viewers were stunned by the nail-biting finale of Grey’s Anatomy‘s 21st season, as an unexpected blast triggered by guest star Piper Perabo’s character, Jenna, shook the hospital’s surgical floor, inflicting unknown harm and casualties. The fate of Atticus Lincoln hangs in the balance, given that he was supposedly in the operating room where the explosion took place. Chris Carmack further fueled speculation by humorously reenacting a scene from Friends.

However, now I’m more confused than ever about Link’s fate.

Chris Carmack, who’s portrayed “Ortho God” Link since Season 15, and Linda Klein (known as Nurse Linda) have hinted at their characters’ possible demises in the 2025 TV schedule by recreating the scene from Friends where Joey’s character is written off Days of Our Lives. Despite the masks concealing their mouths, it’s evident that Chris Carmack is drawing on his inner Joey character, as he reluctantly comes to terms with the destiny awaiting his character.

In my opinion, as a movie reviewer, the poignant “Friends” moment I’m referring to is from the gripping Season 2 episode entitled “The One Where Dr. Ramoray Dies.” This episode features Joey Tribbiani, played by Matt LeBlanc, who finds himself in a predicament when he’s paged to the first floor. In an attempt to buy some time, he cleverly tries to stall, only to tragically step backward into an empty elevator shaft.

In Chris Carmack’s scenario, there were no elevator shafts (which might seem unusual considering their significance on Grey’s Anatomy), instead, he appeared hesitant to initiate the surgical device that likely would have caused the ensuing explosion. It’s quite amusing, but one has to wonder what it signifies.

Does This Confirm That Grey’s Anatomy Killed Off Link, Or Is It The Opposite?

It’s unlikely we’ll receive an official update about Link’s status until the start of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 22 in the fall (though it’s worth noting that contract negotiations may sometimes reveal spoilers ahead of time). Personally, I believe Link has passed away. After marrying Jo and having a hospital honeymoon, he discovered they were expecting twin girls – a turn of events not usually positive on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Yet, one might wonder if Chris Carmack would still be joking around if his character had departed.

In addition to the actor, his wife Erin Slaver also joined the amusement, sharing a humorous video on Instagram that depicted her response to what appeared to be his character’s demise in the show.

As a movie enthusiast, I couldn’t help but share a chuckle at Erin Slaver’s initial concern for Camilla Luddington, portraying Link’s wife Jo Wilson on our favorite series. Frankly, it resonated with me too; considering the number of little ones she’s taking care of, it’d be understandable if she felt the strain. Yet, Camilla doesn’t seem unduly troubled by her husband potentially losing his job.

After pondering the situation, I’m uncertain about the possibilities. Could eliminating Nurse Linda be an option? Since Season 2, Linda Klein has been a producer and regularly appeared in surgery scenes (usually without credit). To use “Friends” as a guide — something I frequently do — Link perishes, but Nurse Linda lives on (“They only said you.”). Or perhaps this is all a clever trick.

A potential twist in the plot could involve the character dying, yet Chris Carmack and his wife find it untroubling since the actor might reappear on the show as Link’s long-lost twin brother, similar to Stone Cates (Stryler Ramoray)! This is just a creative idea for the writers to consider.

The next season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will premiere this fall, giving you plenty of time to prepare!
