Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry Talk Transformers One

As a long-time fan of Transformers, I must say that the upcoming animated film “Transformers One” has me thoroughly excited! The prospect of Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry voicing Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively is simply exhilarating.

In a chat, Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry discuss their voiceover roles in the animated prequel to the Transformers series titled “Transformers One”. Instead of producing another live-action/CGI movie, Paramount Pictures has opted for an animated approach this time around for “Transformers One”. Unlike previous films that dive into the ongoing conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons, this film delves into the origins of these factions and their leaders, Optimus Prime and Megatron, revealing how they were once close friends. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the movie’s production with insights from the main actors.

In a chat before the launch of Transformers One, ComicBook interviewed Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry. During their conversation, Hemsworth discussed his character Orion Pax, also known as Optimus Prime. When asked about Peter Cullen’s response to his portrayal, Hemsworth expressed hope that Cullen was satisfied with his performance. He mentioned that he hadn’t spoken to Cullen yet and admitted that emulating Cullen’s previous work was nerve-wracking for him; instead, they aimed to bring more humor into the role.

Additionally, the character showed a new side of playfulness and humor which was unexpected. However, towards the climax of the movie, as he transformed into Optimus, there was an exciting shift in his delivery and tone – reminiscent of Peter’s iconic portrayal. All in all, it made for an enjoyable watch.

Brian Tyree Henry compares his Spider-Verse and Transformers characters

In a recent interview, Brian Tyree Henry was queried about the unique difficulties he faced when portraying both Jeff Morales (from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series) and Megatron (in Transformers One), and what sets these two characters apart.

They share a common kindness, don’t they? Initially, I expected to declare either ‘I am Megatron’ or ‘Rise up, Decepticons,’ moments I knew would eventually occur. However, what truly captivated me was delving into the origins of their characters – where it all began.

I enjoy listening to him, particularly the humor, the fear, even Megatron showing fear, and the subsequent laughter. It’s intriguing to hear him with a partner-in-crime and learning that he admires other leaders, or ‘Primes’, adds an interesting layer for me.

He emphasized that, when portraying animated characters, it matters greatly that the audience can sense the character’s essence. So, in every performance, I always consider: “Can you truly feel their heart at the end of the day? Will you grasp who they are and perceive their character through my actions? This was equally important when voicing Megatron.
