In 2022, Marvel celebrated my tenure as the Asgardian God of Thunder with a heartfelt video tribute. Today, I added a personal caption to that video when I shared it on social media. In my reflection, I acknowledged the significant impact this role has had on my life over the past 15 years while hinting at the exciting Avengers future that lies ahead.

As comments pour in about Hemsworth’s post, there seems to be an undercurrent that he might be winding down his role in the MCU, and this could be a tribute to his past achievements. The caption suggests that he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which means fans can expect to see him as Thor once more on the big screen. Given the gravity of Doomsday, it’s plausible to think that this might serve as Thor’s final hurrah or set the stage for his departure in the Secret Wars storyline.
To clarify, all speculation regarding Thor and Hemsworth’s future plans is exactly that – speculation. We currently lack concrete information about their plans. However, considering Loki’s return in Doomsday, it would be quite remarkable if they shared a reunion before one or both of them choose to conclude their involvement with the franchise.
In my latest chat with Chris Hemsworth, the mighty Thor himself, he shared some intriguing insights about the potential return of his iconic character on the silver screen. Reflecting upon Thor’s previous adventures in the first two films and Ragnarok and Love & Thunder, he mused, “They were quite similar, I think it’s time to shake things up.”
Having relished the opportunity to push the boundaries with Thor in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Chris expressed his enthusiasm for keeping audiences guessing, a sentiment that keeps him engaged as well. He cautioned, “When things become too predictable, there’s a danger of slipping into complacency – ‘Ah, I know what I’m doing.’ So, if invited back, I believe the new Thor would need a fresh tone and approach – just to keep things exciting for myself.”
Of course, whether or not Chris will be back as Thor remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: if he does return, fans can expect nothing less than a thrilling reinvention of the God of Thunder!
mark my words, dear fans, I’m beyond excited to share that starting from May 1st, 2026, we’ll be graced with the much-anticipated cinema release of Avengers: Doomsday! But the excitement doesn’t stop there, as on December 17th, 2027, we’re in store for another epic chapter: Avengers: Secret Wars. I can hardly wait!
