Chris Pratt Celebrates Guardians of the Galaxy's Tenth Anniversary

As a fan who vividly remembers the days of eager anticipation leading up to the release of James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” ten years ago, it feels like reliving a dream. Chris Pratt’s journey from the humble goofball on Parks and Recreation to becoming one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars is nothing short of astounding. The movie, with its unlikely cast and little-known characters, defied expectations and proved that Marvel Studios could take risks that would pay off handsomely.

Yesterday commemorated the 10th anniversary since the release of James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” in cinemas, and franchise lead Chris Pratt expressed his joy on social media to honor this milestone. Five years into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios decided to take a risk with a film based on relatively unknown characters, featuring a cast mainly comprised of B-list actors. Against expectations, it became one of their most financially successful films and propelled Pratt into A-list stardom in Hollywood. After the success of “Guardians”, Pratt secured a role in “Jurassic World”, and his career trajectory has been nothing short of historical.

As a thrilled fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the moment when Chris Pratt, our beloved Star-Lord, is set to make his comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although specifics about his return are still vague, the intriguing closing tag at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 hints that “Star-Lord will return.” I can hardly wait!

10 years ago today, Guardians of the Galaxy made its grand debut on the big screen, as Chris Pratt shared. Isn’t it hard to believe? What an incredible journey it has been! I have such affection for this amazing cast and crew, and everyone who contributed to this project. I am deeply grateful to our fans – you have truly transformed my life. And to James Gunn, who gave a chance to the goofy guy from Parks and Rec, thank you so much!

Apart from Pratt, it seems like the majority of the Guardians cast members are moving on from the Marvel Universe. For instance, Dave Bautista (Drax) and Zoe Saldana (Gamora) have stated they won’t be returning, and director James Gunn is now overseeing DC Studios along with producer Peter Safran.

The original Guardians film led to three additional movie installments and a festive special on Disney+, focusing mainly on Dave Bautista’s character Drax and Pom Klementieff’s Mantis. Together, these films have grossed over $2 billion worldwide, resulting in numerous merchandise items and even inspiring a rollercoaster at Disney theme parks.

In the movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, as explained in its summary, a daring space explorer named Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) becomes the target of ruthless hunters following his theft of an orb that Ronan, a formidable antagonist, desires. To avoid Ronan, Quill is compelled to form an unsteady alliance with four disparate characters: Rocket Raccoon who carries firearms, Groot who resembles a tree but acts humanoid, the mysterious Gamora, and Drax the Destroyer who seeks vengeance. However, when he learns about the orb’s immense power and the potential danger it poses to the universe, Quill needs to unite his unlikely team to save the cosmos.

“You can purchase or own ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ on DVD or digitally. For those with a Disney+ subscription, it’s accessible without additional cost.”
