It was conspicuous that Chris Pratt, one of the well-known actors, was not part of the cast for “Avengers: Doomsday“, and now we may have a reason behind his absence. As the Russo brothers, directors of “Doomsday“, begin work on the Marvel blockbuster, Pratt is engrossed in another project. Amazon’s Prime Video has announced that filming for “The Terminal List” Season 2 has commenced, with a sneak peek photo of Pratt on set getting ready to shoot a scene. Since “The Terminal List” is being filmed at the same time as “Doomsday“, it seems that Pratt might not be able to return to his role as Star-Lord in the movie.
The latest news about Season 2 of “The Terminal List” coincides with previous reports about Chris Pratt and “Avengers: Doomsday”. Following Marvel’s announcement of the cast for “Doomsday” during a live stream, it was suggested that scheduling issues with “The Terminal List” could pose a challenge. However, there’s still hope that Pratt may rejoin the MCU, but if that doesn’t work out, the Russos are ready to finish the movie without him, should they not be able to secure his participation by the end of main filming.

Last month, Pratt explained why he wasn’t part of the “Doomsday” crew, humorously suggesting his chair was edited out during the live broadcast. Although Pratt won’t be in “Doomsday,” he has hinted that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will develop further on the hint dropped in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” assuring fans that Star-Lord will reappear.
Although Marvel Studios announced the production of Avengers: Doomsday during their livestream event in late March, it wasn’t until late April that principal filming actually began. Already, Florence Pugh, one of the stars of Thunderbolts*, has filmed scenes for Doomsday on what Kevin Feige referred to as a “pre-photography” day.
It’s been confirmed that Marvel Studios has more casting decisions for “Doomsday” to reveal at a later time, leaving fans wondering who else might appear in the movie. Given Chris Pratt’s significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s plausible he could be gearing up for the confrontation with Doctor Doom. However, considering Pratt is currently busy with other projects, such as “The Terminal List,” it seems unlikely Star-Lord will be featured in “Doomsday.”
There’s a possibility that Pratt may have filmed scenes for “Doomsday” before starting work on “The Terminal List,” but if so, Marvel is keeping it a secret for now. At this point, based on the available information, Star-Lord does not appear in the script for “Doomsday,” and his inclusion would depend on Pratt’s schedule clearing up in the near future.
While it’d be exciting to include the Guardians of the Galaxy in Doomsday, it might be wiser for Pratt not to participate this time around. With 27 actors already confirmed for the film, featuring a mix of Avengers characters, the MCU’s Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, it’s clear that Doomsday has a lot on its agenda. Balancing all these characters could be challenging to ensure everyone gets their fair share of attention. The risk of the movie becoming too crowded is high, especially considering more cast members are yet to be announced. Introducing Star-Lord at this point might not have the impact Marvel intends, so it’s better to wait until they can give him a significant role.
