Chris Stark makes emotional return to radio after testicular cancer surgery

Following a short break from his radio and podcast duties, Chris Stark is back on air at Capital Radio today, having shared that he’s been dealing with and overcoming testicular cancer in the recent past.

In a recent social media update, Stark shared that he received a diagnosis for Testicular Cancer, which he discovered during a regular check-up at his local clinic about two months prior.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve taken a break from my usual radio and podcast appearances due to undergoing surgery promptly followed by chemotherapy sessions, with the aim of minimizing any potential recurrence.

I’d like to pass this along because I can’t believe I didn’t notice it earlier. Even though I’ve been successfully treated and the condition was caught early, I hope that any men reading this will consider checking themselves today or seeking a doctor’s advice if they have any doubts about potential symptoms.

“Caught early, this cancer is so so treatable. It is most common in men aged 18-49.

Besides finding it a complex topic, I am ready to risk my only bet in this discussion to ease the conversation for others, inspire self-examination, and possibly save a life.

I’d like to express my gratitude to my amazing family for their unwavering support and encouragement as I shared my experiences. Additionally, I want to acknowledge my intelligent friends and coworkers for their backing of both myself and my loved ones.

Absolutely, I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional medical professionals – doctors, nurses, and hospital personnel – whom I’ve met during my journey, with a special acknowledgment for their dedication towards cancer care.

I’d like to add a thought and my sympathies to those struggling with cancer. Remember to do regular self-examinations, especially for any changes in your testicles. I can’t wait to return to the radio, stronger than ever! Chris xx.

This morning, I found myself back at Capital Radio, where I had the privilege of listening to Stark as he opened up about his health journey – his diagnosis, treatment, and all. Not only did he share his personal experiences, but there was a heartwarming moment when he embraced his co-presenters, Jordan North and Sian Welby in a group hug. This tender scene was captured and shared on Capital’s Instagram Stories for us all to witness.

Previously, Stark had been recognized for co-hosting a radio show with Scott Mills on Radio 1. He departed from this role in the year 2022, simultaneously with Mills.

Starting from October 10th, 2022, he started co-hosting on Capital Radio alongside Roman Kemp and Sian Welby. Later on, Kemp departed, and North took his place in the show.

Upon his arrival at Capital, Stark expressed his profound enthusiasm in a statement: “I am thrilled beyond words to be collaborating with Global on an array of remarkable ventures. For years, I’ve shared a camaraderie with Roman that often led us to toast over a beer about one day working together on something significant. And now, here we stand.

I’m absolutely eager to dive into Capital Breakfast and my freshly assumed creative executive producer position. Here’s to creating unforgettable instances!
