As a compassionate observer, it is truly heart-wrenching to witness Christina Applegate‘s brave battle against Multiple Sclerosis. Her journey, marked by unwavering honesty and resilience, serves as an inspiration for countless individuals facing similar challenges. It’s not easy to live with MS, as she so aptly put it, “It sucks.” Yet, in the face of adversity, Christina has shown an indomitable spirit that is truly commendable.

Christina Applegate is getting candid about her health journey.

The actress from Dead to Me has shared insights into the excruciating impact that Multiple Sclerosis (MS) can have on her life.

Christina, 52, expressed on her November 5th podcast episode of MeSsy, co-hosted by Jamie-Lynn Sigler from The Sopranos (who also manages MS), that everyone experiences it differently. She described her experience as lying in bed, shouting due to the intense pains, aches, and squeezing sensations.

Besides the intensity of her pain, the former star of “Married with Children” – who was diagnosed in 2021 – also mentioned that she now encounters symptoms in areas where she hadn’t felt them before.

As a lifestyle expert, I often find myself expressing a similar predicament: “At times, my phone feels so integrated into my daily routine that it seems to have become an extension of my hand. So, when I reach out to pick it up or grab the remote control for the TV, there are instances where I struggle to hold onto them due to their familiar weight and proximity.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition where the immune system attacks the communication pathways between the brain and the body. Despite bravely battling this enigmatic disease, Christina shared one of her surprising yet effective strategies for dealing with it.

She shared on James Corden’s “This Life of Mine” radio show in August that she finds reality TV quite beneficial. In essence, that’s about it for her opinion on the matter.

As a devoted enthusiast, it’s no secret that my room is always abuzz with the hum of reality TV. Truth be told, I tend to spend quite a bit of time indoors. It might sound a tad isolating, but let me clarify – I just require ample rest occasionally. Indeed, reality TV serves as my preferred companion during these moments of respite.

Christina believes her MS journey actually began “six or seven years” before her 2021 diagnosis.

During an interview on Good Morning America in March 2024, Christina shared that while filming Dead to Me, particularly during the first season, her legs would unexpectedly give out. At first, she attributed it to fatigue, dehydration, or weather conditions. However, for several months, nothing seemed amiss, and she didn’t give it much thought.

By the time she filmed the third and last season of the Netflix series, the actress mentioned that she was being transported to the set in a wheelchair.

“I couldn’t move that far,” she recalled, “so I had to tell everybody because I needed help.”
