Christine Brown Reveals Disgust and Regret Over Kody Brown Relationship

For Christine Brown, being one of Kody Brown‘s ex-sister wives is so cringe.

The 53-year-old individual, who was the first of the patriarch’s three former partners to exit their multi-partner relationship in 2021, discussed her feelings regarding her 25-year relationship with the ‘Sister Wives’ star and father of their six children – Aspyn (30), Mykelti (28), Paedon (26), Gwendlyn (23), Ysabel (21), and Truely (15) – with her husband, David Woolley.

Christine shared with her longtime partner during the season 19 finale of Sister Wives that she had felt strongly for Kody four years earlier. She admitted, “I invested so much of my life into him, and it’s left me feeling ashamed.

Later on, I pointed out a significant distinction I observed between my union with David and my past relationship with the father of 18, who continues to be married to Robyn Brown post his 2022 separations from wife Meri Brown and ex-partner Janelle Brown.

Christine expressed to her spouse, “You’re consistently present, a reliable presence. I can always sense it when you’re with me.” She added, “Kody’s comings and goings were never predictable; we were often left guessing. Yet, not exactly.

On the Season 19 tell-all of Sister Wives, held on May 25th, Christine, who parted ways with Kody, the father of our children Aspyn (age 30), Mykelti (28), Paedon (26), Gwendlyn (23), Ysabel (21), and Truely (15) from our 25-year relationship in 2021, shared her thoughts.

Christine admitted to her husband David Woolley as they prepared to depart for filming that she had once deeply cared for Kody, around four years prior. She confessed that a significant part of her life had been consumed by him, which now left her feeling ashamed.

Afterward, she pointed out a significant distinction she observed between her partnership with David and her past relationship with the man who is currently married to Robyn Brown, following his 2022 breakups from first wife Meri Brown and second spouse Janelle Brown.

Christine observed that David is consistently present, a steadfast fixture in her life. She also mentioned that she could always tell when he was there. In contrast, Kody’s presence was unpredictable; we never knew when he would show up, and although he kept us guessing, it wasn’t really consistent.

She commented, alluding to his time with his fourth wife Robyn, “I always knew what he was up to. Our main disagreement was about that.

During a private chat with the host Sukanya Krishnan, Christine discussed some unusual and awkward elements related to her marriage with Kody.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: “My life was entirely centered around Kody’s needs and desires, as well as those of the family. It wasn’t about us doing what we wanted; instead, we had to adjust our plans to cater to his wishes. And that’s not right, not fair, and it meant our lives were solely focused on him.

“And that’s frustrating to me,” Christine continued. “And it’s embarrassing that I lived it.”

It was clear to their daughter Gwendlyn that the issues within her parents’ relationship, who were not officially married, were causing problems. More recently, she observed signs suggesting their union wasn’t functioning smoothly.

She explained to Sukanya Krishnan that her life was centered around Kody’s needs and desires, as well as those of the family. He didn’t simply follow along with what everyone else was doing. Instead, we had to adapt our activities to suit him. And that’s not right. That’s not fair. It means our lives were all about him.

She added, “And that’s frustrating to me. And it’s embarrassing that I lived it.”

It was clear to their daughter Gwendlyn that her unmarried parents often had disagreements, a fact which she has recently acknowledged by stating that she observed signs indicating their relationship wasn’t functioning well.

In her interview with Teen Vogue on May 14th, she expressed that it seemed appropriate for them to have divorced earlier on. Reminiscing about a childhood memory, she recalled a moment when she saw them arguing and her immediate thought was, “I wish they would get a divorce.” Aren’t kids supposed to think differently sometimes?

Regarding Kody, he has moved away from the practice of polygamy. In a recent episode of Sister Wives, he expressed, “Although we were deeply committed to this lifestyle, I no longer feel the desire for plural marriage. I don’t wish to court another woman because I don’t want the complications – the doubts, the hardships, and the questions about trust.

In her interview with Teen Vogue on May 14th, she expressed that it seemed to her, for some time, that their marriage should have ended. She recalled an instance from her childhood when she overheard them arguing and her initial reaction was a hope that they would divorce, which she found surprising, as most children wouldn’t think that way, right?

Two months later, he made her dreams come true with a spring proposal. “David makes me feel like a queen and tells me I’m beautiful every day,” Christine shared with People. “I’ve never felt love like this before, and the world seems more vibrant with him by my side.”

They tied the knot in Utah on October 7, and she wrote, “I am truly blessed! I have married my best friend.

Janelle Brown’s firstborn daughter was the one to get married among her 18 siblings, and she tied the knot with Caleb Brush in a picturesque outdoor wedding in Montana, recorded by TLC. Approaching ten years later, they expanded their family with Emilia joining their older children, Axel, Evie, and Josephine, in March 2025.

In a post on Instagram from North Carolina, Maddie shared: “Our darling one took her sweet time, leaving us all guessing, but once she made up her mind—there was no delay. She stepped into the world on the 14th of March, and she couldn’t have been more flawless.

Four years following their television appearance on the TLC reality show, Meri’s sole child found a home in Denver alongside Audrey Kriss.

The sweetest moment followed, as Gwendlyn gave a peek into the romantic, rose-adorned proposal on Instagram in November 2022, expressing her excitement with a straightforward message: “I’m engaged!!”.

The lovebirds tied the knot in July 2023, labeling a picture from their wedding ceremony as “Meet the newlywed Mrs. Queiroz (x2)”.
