Following the quick succession of rumors about a possible Chrono Trigger remake, only to be later dismissed, there’s been a glimmer of optimism from Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii regarding the potential revival of the iconic role-playing game.
In an interview with Gamereactor Spain, Horii discussed the upcoming 30th anniversary of Chrono Trigger, and it seemed like he was eagerly bringing up the possibility of a remake himself.
“Yes, I want to do something,” he admits.
He goes on to say: “I’ve been receiving numerous proposals for re-creating Chrono Trigger, which has led me to ponder the idea.
Time alone will reveal if anything significant results from this situation, but it’s important to recognize that Horii’s impact should not be underestimated due to his extensive background and strategic placement within Square Enix. With his successful revival of the early Dragon Quest games through the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, as well as the upcoming Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake, it’s reasonable to assume that similar projects could be on the horizon.
