Chuck Todd is officially saying goodbye to the peacock.
Following approximately two decades with NBC News, the television news reporter revealed details about a fresh phase in his professional journey, marking his departure from the organization.
As I pen this note on January 31st, I find myself at a bittersweet juncture. Today marks my final day here at NBC, a professional haven where I’ve spent an extended part of my journey. Leaving such a cherished workplace is never easy, but the anticipation for some fresh ventures that are on the brink of transitioning from ‘dreams in the clouds’ to ‘realities within reach’ has me buzzing with excitement!
The 52-year-old, who joined the company in 2007, announced he’ll be bringing along his “ChuckToddcast” podcast. He further assured that while there might be some changes, one shouldn’t anticipate drastic alterations in his content.
He expressed gratitude, saying “Thanks, NBC!” He hinted at a forthcoming announcement regarding their future location. It’s clear he intends to carry on delivering his political reporting, using data and historical context as crucial reference points for understanding the past, present, and future.
Reflecting on his time at NBC News, Todd gushed that it “will remain an honor of a lifetime.”
He expressed how pleased he was with the accomplishments made throughout his 20-year journey, working alongside an outstanding group of individuals (and five different presidents). He attributed the success of NBC to the importance of strong collaboration.
Todd underlined the delicate condition of both journalism and politics during that period, suggesting it was a key factor behind his choice to change direction.
In my view, it’s clear that the media needs to make significant efforts to regain the trust of its audience. I firmly believe that the most effective approach is to begin this journey from the grassroots level.
The anchor has left the position more than a year following his announcement of departure from NBC News’ ‘Meet The Press’, where he served as both host and moderator for almost nine years. (Now, NBC News’ Kristen Welker handles that role.)
Todd shared during the program in June, “It’s been an incredible 9-year journey that’s actually spanned 15 years. I’m incredibly proud of the work my team and I have accomplished over these years, both as a political director and helping bridge the gap between understanding America and Washington, as well as vice versa.
He mentioned that his successor had been well-prepared for quite some time, adding, “I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with her since her very first day, and I must say, she couldn’t be more fitting for this role at this particular juncture.
TopMob News has reached out to Todd’s reps for comment and has not heard back.
