As a dedicated fan who has followed Citadel since its inception, I must say that I am utterly thrilled about the latest spin-off, Citadel: Honey Bunny. Having had the privilege to witness the evolution of this franchise, I can confidently say that the addition of Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan has breathed a fresh, comedic life into the series.
With its second spin-off and now a third series on Prime Video, Citadel’s creators have been effusive in their compliments for actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan, who shine as Honey Bunny characters.
Compared to its American and Italian counterparts, the Indian adaptation of the espionage thriller created by Raj & DK features a significantly increased dose of humor and an overall lighter tone.
Their world is quite grave, but running throughout it is the distinct humor of DK and Raj, bringing a light-heartedness to it all.
Despite having no prior experience with heavy actions, these individuals put on such remarkable performances that it’s hard to believe their lack of experience; you wouldn’t guess it by watching them.
However, I find their dynamic simply extraordinary. I believe many will truly appreciate spending time with them.
They’ll find pleasure in the unique and unusual dynamics among their immediate family members. Notably, the girl portraying their daughter, Kashvi Majmundar, is incredibly talented too.
In Citadel, Honey Bunny, an aspiring actress, is approached by stuntman Bunny Dhawan for a temporary job. This job unexpectedly throws them into the thick of real-world action, deceit, and spying.
In time, the events of their past are coming back to haunt them, forcing them to reconnect in order to safeguard their little girl named Nadia.
This is the third part of the Citadel series, as co-creator David Weil shares about its upcoming seasons: “At the moment, we’re developing season two, which is incredibly thrilling – it’s full of unexpected surprises and plot developments.
I believe you’ll find it quite astonishing where certain characters end up. Working on Honey Bunny and Diana has been an absolute joy, and I must say, there are numerous global filmmakers whose work we admire deeply.
We’re excited about what’s to come, as we believe there’s a lot of potential for this amazing storytelling world.
