Citadel: Diana Trailer Teases Prime Video's Italian Citadel Spinoff

As a hardcore gamer and fan of suspenseful, action-packed series, I couldn’t help but get excited when I heard about the latest addition to Amazon Prime Video’s globe-trotting espionage saga, Citadel: Diana. The trailer for this new Italian spinoff has me hooked with its high-stakes espionage and international intrigue.

Citadel’s global conquest persists with the introduction of “Citadel: Italia” – an exhilarating new chapter in Amazon Prime Video’s international espionage series. Named after the covert agency housing memory-altered spies Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jones), this spinoff takes us to Italy as we follow Diana Cavalieri (Matilda De Angelis from “The Undoing”). The recently unveiled trailer reveals her mission: she has infiltrated the formidable Manticore organization, which orchestrates world events from behind the scenes, and must now be extracted before her cover is blown.

In Milan, Italy, 2030, the continuation of the Citadel story follows Diana Cavalieri. Eight years have passed since Citadel’s downfall, and Diana, once an undercover agent for Citadel, now finds herself isolated as a mole within Manticore. As she finally spots an opportunity to escape and vanish forever, her only hope lies in an unlikely ally: Edo Zani (Lorenzo Cervasio), the son of the Italian Manticore family’s head, Ettore Zani (Maurizio Lombardi). Edo is campaigning for leadership against other European families.

The first Citadel spinoff series also features an international cast including Lombardi (The Young Pope), Julia Piaton (Family Business), Thekla Reuten (Warrior Nun), Giordana Faggiano (Monterossi), Daniele Paoloni (The Voyagers), Bernhard Sch?tz (A Most Wanted Man) and Filippo Nigro (Suburra: Blood on Rome). From Avengers: Endgame directors and Citadel executive producers Anthony and Joe Russo, the six-episode series is directed by Arnaldo Catinari (Vita da Carlo). Alessandro Fabbri (The Trial) is head writer, with Gina Gardini (Gomorrah) serving as showrunner.

I’m thrilled to share that Amazon MGM Studios, the brilliant minds behind shows like “The Boys” and “Reacher,” are teaming up with Italy’s Cattleya, responsible for hits such as “The First Omen” and “Mafia Mamma.” This collaboration is a part of ITV Studios, and executive produced by Riccardo Tozzi (“Suburraeterna”), Marco Chimenz (“Django,” “Romulus”), Giovanni Stabilini (“My Love”), and Emanuele Savoini (“ZeroZeroZero”). The Russo Brothers, who oversee all productions within the “Citadel” universe including India’s “Citadel: Honey Bunny,” serve as executive producers along with Angela Russo-Otstot (“Extraction II”) and Scott Nemes (“Hanna”) from AGBO. Additionally, David Weil (“Hunters”) and Midnight Radio (“Zoo”) are on board as executive producers. What an exciting lineup of talent!

In the year 2020, Amazon’s Prime Video revealed that the series “Citadel” would expand into a unique global franchise. This expansion includes companion series based in Italy and India. Each series is set in its respective region, showcasing local acting talents, and is created, produced, and filmed on-site. Thus, providing viewers with distinctively styled shows that proudly reflect their cultural identities from their countries of origin.

All six episodes of Citadel: Diana will debut exclusively on Prime Video globally on October 10th.
