However, the $49.99 price tag for an indie title from a new developer feels a bit steep, especially when you consider that it’s launching alongside AAA heavyweights on next-gen consoles.
In a recent unveiling, Sandfall Interactive has revealed fresh gameplay for their upcoming fantasy RPG titled Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This sneak peek encompassed additional combat sequences and narrative elements. Moreover, the developers have announced an impressive ensemble cast featuring Charlie Cox (known for his role in Daredevil), Ben Starr (from Final Fantasy 16), Jennifer English (of Baldur’s Gate 3), as well as the renowned Andy Serkis.
Indeed, the visuals and design are simply stunning. Yet, when pre-orders became available, some were taken aback to find it priced at $49.99 on Amazon. The developer has since confirmed on Twitter that this is accurate, and they’ve assured us that the main game offers over 30 hours of gameplay. Additional content is an extra addition.

In Spring 2025, the game titled “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” will be released for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. This narrative-driven adventure takes you on a quest to confront the Paintress whose upcoming creation is said to bring about the end of the world. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the gameplay incorporates turn-based combat with strategic elements such as parrying, targeting weak points, dodging, and other tactics.
