Classic Cartoon Network Characters Resurrected for Teen Titans Crossover

This year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival had many exciting offerings for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, but one major announcement might have been overshadowed. Namely, “Teen Titans Go” has been renewed for another season, ensuring the continued adventures of Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire. Debuting in 2013, this humorous series continues to entertain without any signs of slowing down, and its unconventional storytelling style opens possibilities for cross-overs with other Cartoon Network shows. In a recent parody of the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, some classic Cartoon Network characters made an unexpected return.

In the “Teen Titans Go” episode titled “Favorite Animated Show Nominee,” Robin is eager to win an award for his current animated series. Using Raven’s powers, the Teen Titans are transported to the “20th Annual Kids’ Opinion Awards.” The Scooby-Doo gang, known as Mystery Inc., make a humorous appearance first, getting drawn into the portal of Trigon’s daughter. The audience is packed with iconic characters such as The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Quest, Yogi Bear, Tom & Jerry, and Looney Tunes, among others. The scene also showcases characters from recent Cartoon Network shows like We Bare Bears, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Adventure Time, Craig of the Creek, Ed, Edd, ‘N Eddy, I Am Weasel, and more.

Teen Titans Award Denied

In this exciting awards ceremony, my beloved Titans are among the nominees for “Favorite Animated Show,” but we’re up against some formidable competition! It appears that the audience isn’t particularly fond of our “Teen Titans Go” counterpart. Instead, it’s the zany “Loofa Louie Show,” a series that seems to be taking cues from “Spongebob Squarepants,” that takes home the prize. Batman’s trusty sidekick has been keeping us laughing since day one, and it looks like he’ll continue to do so, maintaining his spot as a major comic relief character in this animated world.

In recent times, it’s not just this episode of Teen Titans Go that has seen classic Cartoon Network characters reunite for a crossover event. For instance, the show Jellystone featured an epic crossover titled “Crisis on Infinite Mirths,” where different universes collided. Although we may not get new series for shows like Ed, Edd, ‘n Eddy, Samurai Jack, and The Grim Adventures of Billy And Mandy, their characters can still make a comeback in spin-off projects.

Thankfully, Annecy had an abundance of updates regarding Cartoon Network series set for a return. In the pipeline are the much-anticipated spin-offs of shows like Adventure Time, Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, Regular Show, and Steven Universe. The resurgence of these titles demonstrates that animation revivals remain a lucrative market. Here’s hoping other cherished Cartoon Network characters get another chance to shine!
