Oh, boy! As someone who grew up with Cartoon Network during its golden era, hearing about the potential revival of “Class of 3000” has me all nostalgic and giddy like a school kid on the first day of a new semester! I still remember the catchy tunes from that series, and the unique blend of humor and education it provided. If Andre 3000 is collaborating with Tyler, The Creator on this project, we’re in for a real treat!
It seems like the beloved Cartoon Network series “Class of 3000” might make a comeback if all goes well in the plans. Over the years, Cartoon Network has gone through distinct periods that fans can easily recognize as they’ve produced numerous classics. During the late 2000s, there was a transition as several earlier shows had concluded, and Cartoon Network was readying to update their lineup. However, some major successes still emerged during this period.
The animated show “Class of 3000,” which premiered on Cartoon Network in 2007, was co-created by artists Andre 3000 and Thomas W. Lynch. After a brief run of just two seasons, the series concluded a year later. The show boasted original music from Andre 3000 and other cast members, making it a unique gem for fans who wanted to revisit it. Unfortunately, due to its short run, it’s not easy to find. In a recent interview, Andre 3000 expressed his desire to revive the series in some shape or form, stating, “We’re aiming to do something fresh with it.
Class of 3000 Just Might Get a Revival
In a recent interview with Nardwuar the Human Serviette, Andre 3000 noted that he recently spoke with Tyler the Creator (who is also behind many series that have aired with Cartoon Network and Adult Swim such as The Jellies, Loiter Squad and more) about the classic animated series, “[In] my very first conversation with Tyler, he said: ‘I know all the songs from Class of 3000...Tyler knows music, man.” As a special tease for the interview itself, 3000 then revealed that they’re planning to bring Class of 3000 back with a revival, “We’re hoping to do something new with it, in some type of way,” the artist stated. “So yeah, stay tuned.”
It’s possible that Cartoon Network could revive shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show, so it might not be surprising if they bring back Class of 3000 as well. However, the original series had some issues with budget, scheduling, and licensing (it’s only available for purchase on Apple TV), which made it difficult to continue. If Andre 3000 is advocating for its return and potentially collaborating with Tyler the Creator on a new version, it could be an opportunity that’s hard to resist.
Cartoon Network Revivals Now in the Works
Cartoon Network is currently planning to resurrect some of their beloved old series for fresh installments. Fans have already enjoyed the return of Adventure Time through a spinoff series, Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake, which is set for Season 2. Additionally, there’s another spinoff and a new movie project in the pipeline as well. Similarly, another show from that era, Regular Show, is being revived with a brand-new series in the future too.
Neither of the recently announced projects has given any new information since they were first unveiled earlier this year, but it’s clear that Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Discovery are considering revisiting their classic shows. With the popularity of nostalgia blocks like Checkered Past, these timeless favorites may return to our screens sooner than we think.
