Classic PS2 Game Returning on PS5 and PS4 This Month

Today’s PlayStation State of Play event unveiled a host of thrilling announcements applicable to both PS4 and PS5 gamers. Among these revelations was a wave of games set to join the PlayStation Plus’ Classic Catalog, an assortment of titles from the PS1 and PS2 available at no extra charge for Premium subscribers. One such game is the popular first-person sci-fi RPG from the PS2 era, “Deus Ex.

It turns out that the PlayStation 2 version of Deus Ex, titled Deus Ex: The Conspiracy, was not mentioned during State of Play, but it’s worth noting due to some minor differences from the original PC edition. For instance, the PS2 version features sectioned maps and revised controls. What makes this revelation exciting is that starting June 17th, PS Plus Premium subscribers will have immediate access to the 2002 PS2 game. In other words, Deus Ex will soon be available in the Classics Catalog for these subscribers.

In the year 2002, the PlayStation 2 version of “Deus Ex: The Conspiracy” was met with positive critical reception. Based on data from Metacritic, a review aggregation site, it earned an average score of 81 out of 100 from 25 critic reviews. Interestingly, its PC version, initially launched in 2000, was even more critically acclaimed, with an average score of 90 across 28 critic reviews.

Deus Ex is set to join the PS Plus Classics library, but this benefit is exclusive for Premium subscribers – the top-tier subscription plan offered by Sony. Unlike the Game Catalog, which comes with both Extra and Premium subscriptions, this Classic Catalog doesn’t include modern games like Sword of the Sea, which will be released on August 19, as these are offered at no extra cost for current PS4 and PS5 owners under the Featured Games section.
