Classic Star Wars Games Available for Free for 48 Hours

Currently, a few iconic Star Wars games can be played for free if you have an Amazon Prime subscription, thanks to Prime Gaming. However, this offer will only last until June 4, so after that date, it will no longer be available. Important to note, these offers are exclusive to PC users as console gamers are not affected by the expiration deadline since these deals do not apply to them.

1. Initially, among the pair of Star Wars video games, there’s Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga – a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and LucasArts, initially launched for PC in 2001. Interestingly, after 24 years, this iconic Star Wars title has yet to be ported to consoles. Regrettably, Ensemble Studios ceased operations in 2009; however, prior to that, they introduced games like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars to the world.

2. The first Star Wars game out of two is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga – a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and LucasArts that was released on PC in 2001. Despite being 24 years old, this classic Star Wars title has not been adapted for consoles. Unfortunately, Ensemble Studios shut down in 2009, but before then, they brought games such as Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars to the market.

3. In the duo of Star Wars games, the first one is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga – a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and LucasArts that debuted on PC in 2001. It’s been 24 years since its release, but this classic Star Wars game still hasn’t made it to consoles. Sadly, Ensemble Studios went out of business in 2009, but before then they produced games like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars.

4. Out of the two Star Wars video games, the initial one is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga – a real-time strategy game from Ensemble Studios and LucasArts that was launched on PC in 2001. After 24 years, this original Star Wars title has yet to be released for consoles. Unfortunately, Ensemble Studios closed down in 2009, but before then they created games such as Age of Empires, Age of Mythology, and Halo Wars.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga is named as such because it includes both the original 2001 game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and its expansion, Clone Campaigns from 2002. Although these games had dedicated fanbases, they didn’t achieve significant commercial success, with the base game receiving a Metacritic score of just 75. This lackluster performance likely prevented a sequel from being developed.

The other free Star Wars game is LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which was developed by Traveller’s Tales (the studio behind numerous LEGO games) and LucasArts in 2007. This multi-platform game includes both Lego Star Wars: The Video Game and its sequel, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, all in one collection. In contrast to Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, it was commercially successful, earning an 80 on Metacritic.

Although you require an Amazon Prime membership to initially download these two items for free, once they’re in your collection, they remain yours without needing the subscription. Unlike games on platforms like PlayStation Plus, Nintendo Switch Online, or Xbox Game Pass, these downloads don’t need continued membership to stay accessible.
