What you need to know
- Windows95man is a Finnish visual artist and DJ who represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
- On December 6, he released a new single ‘Paperclip’ dedicated to his friend Clippy.
- You can stream the song right now on YouTube and Spotify.
As a music enthusiast and tech-savvy individual who’s been around since the dawn of the Windows era, I must say that this latest single from Windows95man is a delightful throwback to a time when paperclips were more than just office supplies – they were symbols of friendship and digital innovation.
When I was expecting yet another dreary winter day, an exciting announcement arrived from my beloved DJ who specializes in Windows-themed music—truth be told, he’s the sole DJ of that niche genre. To say it’s a growing field would be an exaggeration. Yes, the iconic figure known as Windows95man has returned with another 90s-style rave track timed perfectly for the holiday season, and this time, it focuses on his trusty sidekick—Clippy.
New single ‘Paperclip’ drops today
In a statement shared with NME about their latest song, Windows95man mentioned that “Clippy is my buddy,” likening the track to a tribute, not just for Clippy – the iconic assistant of Microsoft Windows systems – but also for all fans of Windows. However, it’s worth noting that Clippy has been out of office circulation lately and has been spotted hanging out with Windows95man in Helsinki, where they often take turns as DJs.
You can listen to the song directly if you wish. I’ve provided a link to YouTube, or you can stream it easily on Spotify as well.
It seems I can’t find the lyrics for ‘Paperclip’ anywhere, so here’s my take on them:
In the year 1995, I found myself ensconced in my room, playing ‘Can’t Stop Loving You.’ A melancholic mood had enveloped me, yet Clippy was there to offer comfort. As time went on, I felt a renewed sense of vigor and Windows95man progressed to the year 2025, belting out: “Clippy and I, we can soar together.” Looking back, it’s clear that our journey has been nothing short of extraordinary – perhaps even worthy of Eurovision 2024, where Windows95man and Clippy proudly represented Finland in the contest. Although they didn’t clinch a win, it’s heartening to see them continue creating music and making waves on the DJ scene.
Under the stage name Windows95man, or otherwise known as Teemu Keisteri, has been garnering increased recognition due to his EDM-inspired performances since his Eurovision appearance. His upcoming world tour is set to kick off in New York on January 18. Will you be attending?
