Clockwork Revolution Director, Producer Explain Mult-Person Conversations, Choices and Consequences

InXile Entertainment’s developer team has disclosed additional information about their upcoming game titled “Clockwork Revolution“. In a conversation with Xbox Wire, key figures like game director Chad Moore and studio founder Brian Fargo, the game producer, discussed how players will be able to make impactful choices that lead to subsequent effects.

In the interview, Fargo and Moore discussed their past collaborations on timeless RPGs such as “Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura”, and they highlighted that these games played a role in Xil’e’s own works receiving positive critical reception. Regarding “Clockwork Revolution”, the pair shared insights into strategies like employing deliberate pacing for dramatic impact, and emphasized the significance of player decisions.

Fargo explained, “We wanted to communicate directly with dedicated role-playing enthusiasts and reveal the true essence of this game.” He continued, “To do this, we intentionally paused things, allowed conversations to unfold naturally, and demonstrated the underlying mechanics at work. The scene featuring Alfie isn’t merely dramatic; it establishes the game’s tone. This is a game that can be harsh, not only in battles but also in the decisions you make and the reactions of the world. It’s not just about visual spectacle; it’s about crafting a rich, reactive RPG that we passionately create, and one our players anticipate.

Moore discussed the game’s approach to multi-character discussions, where the participants significantly influence the options available for dialogue. To illustrate this, he used the trio of characters – Morgan, Errol, and Alfie. He pointed out that a player’s choice can alter the eventual outcomes in their interactions with these characters.

Moore elaborated, “It also indicates our interactive conversations with more than one person.” He added, “In these dialogues, various individuals participate, and your decision on who to address can steer you towards distinct plotlines. These choices can significantly alter the direction of a conversation. In the trailer example, Morgan opted to converse with Errol rather than Alfie, disregarding clear warnings, which ultimately led to Errol’s demise. Consequently, if you decide to follow that course, Errol becomes a character who won’t appear in the remainder of the game.

Fargo elaborated on Moore’s observations, stating, “Discussions carry significant impacts, and I believe it’s pertinent to acknowledge that some of our dialogue choices can be quite sinister.” He went on to explain, “In the trailer, you’ll notice a few instances of these dark options. To make the gameplay experience authentic, these evil choices must lead to substantial results and have genuine impacts. If they don’t, then the good decisions won’t feel as rewarding, and we won’t be playing the game as intended.

During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, a fresh trailer for Clockwork Revolution was unveiled, offering a detailed glimpse into the game’s intricate clockpunk backdrop and landscapes. The trailer showcased not only the character customization options that evolve throughout gameplay but also the user-friendly character creator. It further revealed combat sequences, weapon modification possibilities, and even hinted at the engaging multi-person dialogues as discussed by Moore and Fargo.

As of now, the release date for “Gear-driven Revolution” hasn’t been announced yet. It’s currently being developed to launch on both PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
