Clueless musical heads to West End with music from KT Tunstall

As a child of the ’90s, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming musical adaptation of Clueless! The movie was such a significant part of my formative years, with its witty dialogue, fashionable ensembles, and timeless themes of friendship and self-discovery.

Following a whirlwind of gossip and promotional images adorned with bright tartan, it’s now officially confirmed: Clueless is coming to life as a musical!

As a devoted film and music enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that come February next year, a brand-new musical is set to grace the stages of London’s West End! This captivating production will feature music penned by none other than the exceptionally talented KT Tunstall. Can’t wait to catch it!

According to Jane Austen’s novel “Emma” and its 1995 film adaptation featuring Alicia Silverstone, this series revolves around Cher Horowitz, the high school queen bee known for her mischievous meddling in romantic affairs of others.

The movie, famous for its stylish attire and memorable lines such as “You’re a virgin who can’t drive,” has certainly secured its spot within the iconic ’90s romantic comedy genre.

30 years later, this project is now taking shape with a script penned by Amy Heckerling, songs from KT Tunstall (famous for her hit Suddenly I See), song lyrics by Glenn Slater, and guidance from director Rachel Kavanaugh.

Initially, the musical was staged off-Broadway back in 2018 using a collection of popular songs. Since then, it underwent a significant transformation. Earlier this year, this revised version had a preliminary run at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley.
