CM Punk Teases Future WWE Signings: More AEW Stars Jumping Ship?

As a long-time wrestling fan, I find myself intrigued by the ongoing dance between AEW and WWE. For three years, it seemed like a one-way street with talent flowing from AEW to WWE. But now, with Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and others making the jump back to WWE, things are heating up!

As a passionate gamer, let me share my excitement about the evolving landscape in the world of professional wrestling. For the initial three years of AEW’s existence, it was like a one-way highway with WWE stars frequently joining the All Elite realm. However, the tide turned in April 2022 when AEW co-founder, Cody Rhodes, decided to rejoin the WWE. This move was just the beginning as stars like Brian Pillman Jr. (Lexis King), Jade Cargill, CM Punk, Shawn Spears, Ethan Page, William Regal, and Bea Priestley (Blair Davenport) followed suit.

The Second City Saint has his eyes on a couple of unnamed future free agents.

In conversation with KTSM, CM Punk hinted that if he formed a group in the WWE once more, his preferred team members would hail from outside the organization.

“Everybody who would be apart of that is not necessarily here as a hire yet,” Punk teased.

In a not-so-subtle nod to the wider professional wrestling community, the ex-WWE Champion has been open about his respect for several members of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Many of these individuals were once his locker room companions. Punk had a short-lived alliance with FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), pairing up in the debut episode of AEW Collision. It’s highly improbable that either Harwood or Wheeler will return to WWE, as they renewed their contracts with AEW early in 2023 and stated that these agreements would be their last before retiring from wrestling.

In AEW, Punk’s last televised conflict was with Ricky Starks, a performer who is temporarily not associated with AEW at present. Originally, Starks was scheduled to be the main event for AEW All Out 2023 against Punk, but this plan changed when Punk was dismissed from the company just a few days before the pay-per-view.

Earlier this year, Starks acknowledged that he doesn’t have any solutions when fans often question him about his absence in AEW. He admitted that not being on TV can be disappointing, but the kind words and messages of support he receives online are heartwarming and motivating.

WWE NXT reportedly has “significant interest” in signing Starks when he becomes a free agent.
