Intense Games has made available the one-to-four-player cooperative horror exploration game titled “UNDERWARD” on PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store for a price of $12.49, £9.29, €11.25 or 1,430 yen.
UNDERWARDSteam on February 5.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
UNDERWARD is a one-to-four-player cooperative horror exploration game.
Investigators must carry “TEST-SUBJECT” monsters from a deadly underground abandoned hospital ward.
Can you uncover the truth hidden deep within the depths of UNDERWARD?
Single Play: An Extreme Stealth Challenge
As a dedicated fan, I can confidently say that UNDERWARD offers the option for single-player mode, but beware – this is an extremely challenging experience! In single-player, one wrong move leads to an immediate game over. The game is filled with tricky trials and errors, so in solo play, you’ll learn through mistakes and keep pushing forward.
(Version 1.0.2.0 introduced extra lives and solo play adjustments for a better experience.)
In this game version, lacking the chained carry feature, you’ll find yourself handling your cargo cautiously, always on edge due to potential surprise attacks from enemies. You’ll have to be stealthy, mindful of hidden dangers, and move slowly with heightened vigilance. This mode offers a heart-pounding adventure that’s ideal for players craving a genuinely terrifying horror experience. Despite the distinct differences compared to multiplayer, it delivers an immersive and suspenseful gaming experience.
Mission
Explore the depths of UNDERWARD and carry the “TEST-SUBJECT” monsters to the elevator.
Step 1: Search “Test Subjects”
Once you exit the elevator, scour the floor for “TEST-SUBJECT.”
Keep in mind that hazards and pitfalls abound, hidden in many places. Some locations and tools require collaboration with your fellow players to unlock. If you can, it’s wiser to explore together rather than going solo.
Additionally, it’s worth exploring if there are any tools still present in the vicinity. Don’t forget to scrutinize lockers, shelves, and hidden nooks as potential storage areas for useful items. Fingers crossed, you might just stumble upon some cutting-edge technology!
Step 2: If They See You, Run or…
There’s a chance you will encounter unknown enemies during your search.
As a fellow enthusiast, I’d advise treading carefully around them since they seem drawn to commotion. If you can sneak about unnoticed, they may just overlook you. Be flexible and adjust your approach according to the circumstances.
However, should they notice you, do your best to flee swiftly! Toss any objects you possess at them – it could potentially aid in your defense.
Even if someone gets taken down, there’s still hope for rescue.
On the screen, you’ll see where your teammate is situated. So, respond promptly while keeping a cool head. Reducing injuries will foster a stronger camaraderie among us.
But remember: the window for rescue is shrinking by the second.
Step 3: Carry and Carry and Carry!
Once you’ve found “TEST-SUBJECT,” carry it to the elevator with all your might.
Carrying the capsule creates a lot of noise, attracting enemies, so stay vigilant.
As a dedicated gamer, I’d say, although one player might struggle to manage a hefty artifact on their own, we can implement a “Cooperative Carry” strategy to swiftly outpace our opponents. Together, our progress becomes unstoppable!
However, if your teamwork falters, it could mean a one-way ticket to the afterlife.
Each “TEST-SUBJECT” has a different value.
We hope the team can retrieve the most valuable “TEST-SUBJECT” possible.
Then… Deeper into the “UNDERWARD”
After reaching the required recovery level, please move on to verifying the “TEST-SUBJECTS.” Once ready, kindly ensure the elevator doors are closed before pressing the button for the next floor. Investigators should then step inside and wait for the elevator to reach its destination.
We’re particularly proud when our investigators decide to explore the riskier, lower levels.
…Please note that we do not guarantee the safety of your life on this mission.
