Coachella 2015: Madonna’s Kiss & More!

With Coachella 2025 just around the corner, it’s time for a throwback hit.

This year’s festival is anticipated to be extraordinary with top acts such as Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone set to perform in the California desert. However, let’s take a moment to reminisce about Coachella 10 years ago, when other artists graced the stage and the fashion scene was dominated by crocheted clothing.

2015’s Coachella was truly memorable, featuring headliners such as AC/DC, who made their comeback after a six-year hiatus, Jack White, and Drake.

Instead of causing excitement, it was Drake’s performance that sparked something unusual. This was amplified when, unexpectedly, Drake brought out Madonna to the crowd’s delight. However, the situation quickly changed when Madonna gave an impromptu kiss to Drake during their live stage performance of “God’s Plan”.

After some whispers about Drake appearing unenthusiastic regarding the kiss, the rapper clarified the situation following the festival. In a post on Instagram, he expressed, “Don’t misunderstand my surprise!! I got to share a smooch with the legendary Madonna and I feel amazing about it forever. Thank you @madonna.

Over that weekend, other artists such as Hozier, The Weeknd, Tyler the Creator, and Florence & the Machine took the stage. Notably, Florence Welch from Florence & the Machine gave a remarkable performance despite breaking her foot during a leap from the stage.

However, just as performers were buzzing with energy on stage, Coachella a decade ago was graced by numerous big-name celebrities. Many of these stars have continued to attend the festival regularly over the subsequent years.

In this gathering of individuals who left Hollywood to enjoy the sun, sand, and tunes, we find Kylie Jenner along with her then-partner Tyga. They were captured in a photograph together with Kylie’s sister, Khloe Kardashian. The Kardashian sisters chose fashionable footwear from the era – ankle boots. Kylie paired hers with a delicate lace bodysuit, while Khloe opted for a tight-fitting gray cotton dress made of cotton.

As a seasoned Coachella-goer myself, I can attest that Zoë Kravitz was another stylish festival-goer this year. She rocked a plaid jumpsuit, black platform boots, a bold chunky gold necklace, and oversized square sunglasses.

In addition to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Behati Prinsloo, other celebrities who perfectly embodied the fashion trends of the era were notable.

At the festival, Rosie opted for a free-flowing, crocheted white dress paired with a brown crossbody bag and oversized sunnies. On the other hand, Behati—having been married to Adam Levine for just a year—chose denim shorts, a mesh top layered over a gray bralette, and chunky black shoes. She accessorized her look with multiple necklaces, a rose choker, reflective sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed black hat.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely kept things easy and breezy in her flowing white dress.

In a lively, accessible manner: Angus Young, guitarist of AC/DC, steered the crowd on a journey along the road to hell during their comeback performance after six years offstage.

Drake’s main act generated a lot of excitement when unexpectedly, Madonna leaned in for an impromptu kiss on stage.

Zoë Kravitz looked effortlessly cool in her romper and boots.

Performer Azealia Banks hit the stage in a floral romper.

Hip hop duo Run the Jewels surprised fans with an appearance by Travis Barker

Tyler, Creator delivered an electrifying performance as he rolled onto the stage in a go kart that appeared struck by lightning.

Kendall Jenner was accompanied by her sister, Kylie Jenner (sporting a turquoise wig), while they made their way through the festival area together.

Florence Welch bravely continued despite suffering a broken ankle when she leapt from the Coachella stage during her show.

In boots and reflective shades, Kylie, along with her boyfriend Tyga at the time, and Khloe Kardashian, all displayed fashion from that period.

Kendall and Hailey Bieber—then Baldwin—showed off this forever memory on Instagram.

Behati Prinsloo made Coachella her runway in her totally 2015 fashion.

Long before he was too sweet, Hozier was still a fan-favorite at Coachella.

Kylie, Kendall, and Selena Gomez displayed their fashion for festivals using Instagram’s distinctive, easily identifiable orange tint filter.

Vance Joy had everyone running down to the riptide when he took to the stage.

Following his performance, David Guetta thanked Beyoncé for attending.

FKA twigs embraced the pink life during her performance.
