As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the initial segment of “Cobra Kai” season 6, our grand finale, is now streaming on Netflix! The final chapters are scheduled for release in November. The masterminds behind this incredible series, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, have given us a sneak peek into the series’ conclusion, hinting that it will wrap up in a way that is both satisfying and filled with unexpected twists. Previously, they’ve teased the possibility of spinoff ideas, and most recently, they’ve expressed their interest in creating a prequel series centered around the iconic character, Mr. Miyagi, from the original “Karate Kid” movies, played by the legendary Pat Morita. This could potentially be a new journey for us fans to embark on!
“We often ponder creating spin-offs based on ‘Cobra Kai’, a series that in essence is a continuation of ‘The Karate Kid’. Just as we developed a new storyline from the original’s antagonist, we envision expanding this concept to other characters in our show. As we conclude each character’s arc, we consider the excitement of exploring their future lives and delving deeper into their past.”
“One reason for telling the Miyagi box story this season was to explore more about Mr. Miyagi and his life, which has been on our minds for a while. We collaborated with Robert Mark Kamen, the writer of the original Karate Kid, who based the movie on his sensei who studied Okinawan karate, to develop Miyagi’s backstory. This information was crucial in creating season six content. Now that we’ve wrapped up Cobra Kai, we can delve deeper into this backstory. We’ve been concentrating on finishing Cobra Kai and are currently editing the final episodes. Once those are complete, we hope to reveal some intriguing developments…”
He indicated that a Mr. Miyagi prequel is an idea they are strongly considering and have discussed, but for now, their primary focus remains on “Cobra Kai”. Once they complete that project, they will evaluate the direction for any potential spinoffs, including the prequel, but it’s definitely something they’ve been keen to explore. They simply want to finish “Cobra Kai” first before delving into the prequel.
The final episodes of Cobra Kai are set to be released on Netflix on November 15th.
