Code Geass x Pop Team Epic’s Crossover is One of Anime’s Strangest Team-Ups

If you consider two distinct anime series, Code Geass and Pop Team Epic, they’d likely top the list for their contrasting themes. While Code Geass revolves around its character Lelouch’s intense struggle for his people’s future, Pop Team Epic follows the offbeat, comedic escapades of Popuko and Pipimi. Despite these worlds being starkly dissimilar, a crossover between the franchises has emerged to launch April, and if you appreciate either anime, it could be intriguing to explore.

In addition to introducing fresh artwork where Popuko and Pipimi resemble characters from the imaginary realm called Britannia, a fresh video humorously bridges these two realms. Fortunately, the characters in Code Geass undergo a humorous transformation in the style of Pop Team Epic, making them memorable within the anime community. Although this crossover isn’t likely to spawn a new anime series that merges these worlds, it serves as an ideal April Fools Day surprise for fans of both anime. Pop Team Epic’s Past Crossovers

Lelouch isn’t the only character who has been featured in crossovers with the girls of “Pop Team Epic” and its creator Bkub Okawa. Recently, Okawa has reimagined popular anime series like “Dragon Ball,” “Konosuba,” “The Boy And The Heron,” and “Chainsaw Man” using his distinctive style. Although new chapters of the “Pop Team Epic” manga are still being released, an upcoming anime project is yet to be announced. However, the official social media account linked to these high school characters has unveiled their fresh take on classic designs, which you can view below.

Code Geass’s Return

In the realm of Code Geass, the beloved world made a comeback with the sequel series titled “Code Geass: Lelouche’s Return – The Recapture of Rose“. Instead of revisiting Lelouch, the anime shifted focus to new leads, Rose and Ash, also known as the Nameless Mercenaries. They embarked on a mission against the Neo-Britannians in the aftermath of the original series. Although no further anime series within this universe has been officially announced yet, there were some hints dropped late last year. Enjoy the fresh perspective on Lelouch and his team, which is now available, thanks to this April Fools’ Day special event!

Last December, voice actors Jun Fukuyama and Kohei Amakasaki from the original series participated in an event to commemorate the franchise. During this event, Amakasaki mentioned that a sequel project was underway. He said, “Today, I felt I could contribute once more to this ongoing series. During the final act of ‘Rose’s Recapture,’ I used my Geass on Producer Taniguchi, asking him to create a sequel. So, I believe one day I will be able to tell the story of Rose and Sakuya to everyone again. Thank you for your ongoing support! I was also thrilled to learn that new projects are being developed, so I hope it remains a thought-provoking work.
