Code Vein 2 Announced with New Trailer

Bandai Namco has upgraded Code Vein from a single game to a series, with the announcement of Code Vein 2 this week at the Summer Game Fest kick-off event. During the event’s opening moments, a trailer for Code Vei 2 was unveiled, showcasing the same focus on close-combat and colossal, ever-changing bosses, though with a slightly modified artistic style compared to the original game released in 2019. Although no specific launch date has been provided, Bandai Namco confirmed that Code Vein 2 will be available at some point in 2026.

When Code Vein initially came out a few years back, it held its own among other Souls-like games. However, due to the passage of time, Code Vein 2 might not have been anticipated by many viewers before Summer Game Fest. Unlike most Souls-likes that emphasize their grim, challenging aspects, reminiscent of the Dark Souls series, Code Vein (and it seems, Code Vein 2 as well) distinguishes itself with a more anime-style visual approach.

Below, you’ll find the trailer for Code Vein 2, graciously provided by Bandai Namco during their reveal. From what we’ve seen, it appears to share a similar visual and gameplay style with its predecessor. However, the characters in this installment seem to have a more delicate appearance compared to those in the original game.

In our assessment of the widely recognized title “Anime Souls,” we awarded the debut game, Code Vein, a score of 4 out of 5, commending its similarities to the Souls series and acknowledging the challenges it encountered being Bandai Namco Studios’ first foray into this genre. With the anticipated release of Code Vein 2 slated for 2026, we can look forward to more updates on it in the near future.
