College Football 26 Reveal Imminent: New Details Expected Soon

It appears that EA Sports’ College Football 26 is getting ready for a forthcoming unveiling. The sports genre is generally quite consistent, and surprises are scarce as the major franchises have been annualized for many years without significant innovation. EA Sports attempted to incorporate large storylines into these games around seven or eight years ago, but they’ve since moved on from that approach. Instead, there’s a focus on improving the gameplay in titles like FIFA, Madden, and 2K. However, fans often express dissatisfaction because the games seem very similar from one year to the next.

As a passionate gaming enthusiast, I’ve been longing for the return of college football games since EA suspended the series mid-2010s due to licensing complications surrounding real college athletes. For almost a decade, fans like me held onto hope that one day, this issue would be resolved. Finally, in 2021, the NCAA made a significant shift by allowing college athletes to profit from Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, opening up the possibility for EA to revive its cherished college football video games. The result was the launch of a brand-new series called EA Sports’ College Football, which hit the shelves in summer 2024 following years of dedicated development. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this moment!

2024 saw EA Sports’ College Football 25 receiving overwhelming acclaim from fans, effectively proving that it wasn’t just a replica of Madden with college football elements. Fortunately, the developers managed to set it apart from its counterpart, resulting in College Football 25 becoming the second highest selling game of 2024 in the U.S. This was an impressive feat, demonstrating that fans were eager for what they’d long been asking for, a college football game – something not always guaranteed. It seems that College Football has now found its place in EA’s annual lineup.

EA Sports College Football 26 Gets New Store Pages Ahead of Reveal

It’s not at all unexpected that EA Sports College Football 26 has been confirmed for release this summer, given the success of last year’s game. At present, we don’t have much information about the new game, but both PlayStation and Xbox have set up store pages for it. Unfortunately, pre-ordering isn’t an option yet, but you can add EA Sports College Football 26 to your wishlist. There are no screenshots, descriptions, or trailers on these pages as of now, but the Xbox Store does feature a logo for the game. While there’s not much to go by, these store pages typically become active only when EA is preparing to open pre-orders, hinting that the game might be coming soon.

It’s clear that the release of College Football 26 might follow soon after an official announcement, possibly within the next few weeks or months. Since the first teaser for College Football 25 was released on February 15th, 2024, it’s plausible we could see a reveal trailer for College Football 26 imminently. However, there was a significant gap between the initial teaser and the gameplay reveal for College Football 25, with the actual gameplay debuting in May. Here’s hoping that EA will provide more details and a gameplay trailer earlier this year compared to last time, reducing the wait for fans.

Regarding a release date, Electronic Arts (EA) hasn’t made any firm decisions yet. Typically, College Football games have been launched mid-July, and this trend could carry over to College Football 26, which might be expected around July 2025. However, we’ll need to keep an eye out for updates. What features would you like to see in College Football 26? Share your thoughts below or reach out to me on Twitter @Cade_Onder.
