Collin Gosselin is sharing just how strained his relationship is with his mom Kate Gosselin.
20 years old, and one among Kate and her former spouse Jon Gosselin’s eight children, has been separated from both his mother and most of his seven siblings since the year 2018.
Currently, Colin is discussing the details of his relationship with his mom and the reason behind her choice to put him into a care facility because of household behavioral problems. After two years, he eventually lived with his father following this placement.
In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Colin mentioned that she dropped by once. The visit lasted approximately half an hour, during which she solely delivered a lecture, expressing her opinion that I had caused our family to disintegrate.

He also recounted the experience of being brought to the facility.
Collin recalled, “I was clueless about the situation and my destination. I’d shared with my family that it was likely the scariest moment of my life until then. Prior to this, I was at home with my siblings and my mother didn’t provide any details regarding where I was being taken or what was happening.”
It was so abrupt he didn’t get to see his siblings one last time, noting, “I didn’t even say goodbye to them, I didn’t know it was goodbye.”
Collin briefly speculated on what could have led Kate, who parted ways with Jon in 2009, to make the decisions she eventually made.
He clarified that our family was constantly in the public eye all day, every day. After her divorce, his mother, who was raising eight kids on her own, attracted a lot of attention. He firmly believes, and knows for certain, that he was sent away from home to shield his mother’s reputation.
In response to Collin’s suggestion in the year 2023, Kate issued a statement following his claim that she was responsible for his strained relationships with his siblings – namely, the sextuplets Alexis, Aaden, Leah, Joey, as well as twins Mady and Cara, who were 22 years old at the time.
Kate expressed on Instagram on July 21 that she felt compelled to speak up despite her reluctance, as she found herself with no other options. Although it pains her deeply, she feels it’s necessary to disclose. Her beloved son Collin has been diagnosed with several psychiatric conditions over time. Due to the need for our family’s safety and his own well-being, he was admitted into a facility following years of outpatient care that didn’t meet his requirements adequately.
In response, the ex-reality TV personality explained, “Every precaution we implemented at our residence was advised by his child psychologist and a group of medical experts. These steps were taken for the safety and wellbeing of all members within our household.”
Despite the ongoing divide within their family, Collin currently maintains contact solely with his father and sister Hannah, who resides with Jon. However, he remains hopeful that this rift won’t persist indefinitely.
“He expressed to ET that he adores his siblings deeply and would never cause them harm. He emphasized that he wouldn’t tarnish their reputations in the media. However, he strongly feels that his mother is influencing what they say about him in the media. In his opinion, if we were to meet today, we’d forge a wonderful friendship.”
