Ziggurat Interactive and Empty Clip Studios have unveiled “Cosmi: Forbidden Forests,” a compilation of 10 classic games originating from the Commodore 64 era, tailored for today’s gamers. The star title is “Forbidden Forest.” This collection will be available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and GOG) on May 27th.
Here is an overview of the collection, via Ziggurat Interactive:
About
This remarkable assortment includes ten exceptional games that were popular during the ’80s Commodore 64 period, along with additional resources for enthusiasts focused on video game conservation and those wanting to explore more about these titles.
Featuring 10 blasts from the past, first published by Cosmi more than 30 years ago, Cosmi: Forbidden Forests has something for everyone including pick-up-and-play shooters and platformers to adventure and simulation games with surprising depth. Go on a hunt for fabled treasure in Caverns of Khafka (1983), bust out of your fish tank in Chomp! (1989), and escape from a toxic post-apocalyptic Chicago in 2027 in Delta Man (1986).
As a gaming enthusiast, let me share with you one of the highlights from this collection: a reimagined edition of the classic game, “Forbidden Forest.” This updated version boasts stunning visuals and immersive audio, but what truly sets it apart is the bardcore visual toggle option. With this feature, you can immerse yourself in a medieval setting like never before!
Armed with a trusty bow and a limited stock of arrows, you’ll face off against terrifying creatures such as giant spiders, grotesque frogs, fire-breathing dragons, slippery snakes, and even the Demogorgon. You can choose to experience this adventure in the original style conceived by the legendary game designer Paul Norman, or opt for a new aesthetic that resembles intricate 14th-century tapestries. Get ready to embark on an epic journey!
Furthermore, “Cosmi: Forbidden Forests” includes refreshed cover artwork, historical content, and original digital comics crafted by Ideas&Inks, a team headed by veterans Ant Williams and Andy Lanning from Marvel and DC Comics. Alongside an exceptional team of writers, letterers, and artists (a complete list of credits can be found here), the realms of Forbidden Forest and Caverns of Khafka are brought to life in two chilling stories compiled as “Digital Dreams” and “8-Bit Nightmares”.
