Conan O’Brien needs a rule book.

The individual, aged 61, who recently emceed the Oscars in March, disclosed that certain concepts he had for the event were vetoed because of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ stringent regulations concerning their well-known statuette, often referred to as Oscar.

A representative from the Academy made a statement that left Conan astounded: ‘Oscar will never lie flat,'” he said. “This was like unearthing the femur of Saint Peter. It’s an artifact of great significance.

However, the body responsible for Hollywood’s grand event didn’t just dismiss Conan’s couch concept; instead, Conan claims that when his team proposed a sketch depicting the trophy as a housewife in an apron serving the host leftovers, this idea was also rejected swiftly.

“No clothing on Oscar,” Conan added. “Oscar is always naked.”

It seems that although Conan’s promotional concepts were not endorsed, these weren’t the only changes he needed to make. Additionally, it appears that he also had to scrap an extended version of his show’s opening segment.

At the start of the March 2 event, Conan mockingly imitated one of the evening’s winners, The Substance, by reenacting a scene from the film in which Margaret Qualley emerged from Demi Moore’s back. The comedian mentioned that the skit was originally intended to be more extended.

He clarified that the concept was, “‘Ah, Conan will make fun of all movies,'” referring to the new direction. He continued, “It begins with me as I’m wrapped up in Wicked, playing my part while being entirely green, nearing the end of ‘Defying Gravity’ or one of those tunes.

He explained, “Once it’s done, we transition immediately to ‘Gladiator II‘, filled with the sounds of clashing swords. You perceive that I am a gladiator, but you also notice my inexperience, as my hand is still green. Then, we move on to ‘Conclave‘ where people are voting using ballots, and one of the hands casting the vote is still green.

In essence, what he meant was that the dye refused to be removed, leaving them no choice but to complete the entire shooting process in a single day.
