As an old-school gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say I’m quite intrigued by the upcoming release of Concord. The prospect of a continually evolving live service multiplayer shooter appeals to me, reminiscent of the good ol’ days when updates were a thrill rather than an expectation.
As an enthusiastic fan, I’m thrilled about the launch of Concord, which is shaping up to be a bustling adventure with a dozen maps, six game modes, and 16 Freegunners to choose from. However, as a live service multiplayer shooter, it’s clear that this game will keep growing and expanding over time. Sony and Firewalk Studios have recently unveiled some exciting details about their post-launch plans for the game. These include the addition of new Freegunners, maps, modes, story segments, and much more!
Previously confirmed, Concord won’t feature a battle pass or any paid post-launch expansions. Instead, its first post-launch season, Season 1: The Tempest, will commence in October, a few months after the game’s release. This season will introduce a new Freegunner character, a new map, and variations of previously existing Freegunners.
Players can anticipate a variety of updates too, including fresh cosmetics and rewards, enhancements for better gameplay experience, as well as new story segments. Firewalk Studios has mentioned that they plan to provide more of these elements with each upcoming season. Furthermore, Season 1 will also introduce an in-game shop where players can purchase cosmetic items.
Meanwhile, the second season commences in January, offering more of what we experienced in season one, plus a fresh new gameplay mode. As for season three, due in April, specifics about its content are yet to be disclosed.
