Control 2 is an Action RPG, Per Remedy

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for immersive storytelling and unique gameplay mechanics, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming sequel to Control, titled Control 2. Having played and been captivated by the original, I’m eagerly awaiting what Remedy Entertainment has in store for us next.

Following the hint of a sequel to “Alan Wake 2: The Lake House” and Remedy officially launching full production in 2025, development on “Control 2” is gathering momentum. Not much has been disclosed about the follow-up except for Annapurna Pictures co-financing it. However, an unexpected detail was revealed at this year’s Capital Markets Day – “Control 2” will be an action role-playing game (RPG).

At a glance, it seems that features such as equipment, progression, attributes, and so forth might be included. In the initial game, you earn Ability Points from additional missions, which can be utilized to enhance various abilities acquired during gameplay. Additionally, weapons and personal modifications are available in varying levels of rarity, becoming more potent over time.

It’s still unclear whether the sequel to Control will delve deeper into these aspects, transition into a full looter shooter, or something else entirely. Although a release date hasn’t been announced yet, Control 2 is planned for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. In addition, Remedy is also developing FBC: Firebreak, a multiplayer cooperative spin-off that takes place years after the original game. This title is set to launch next year and will be priced as a mid-tier game.
