Control Has Sold Over 4.5 Million Units

As a longtime fan who’s seen Remedy Entertainment’s meteoric rise since the days of Max Payne, it’s truly heartening to see the studio’s success stories like Control and Alan Wake continue to thrive. The sales figures for these games are not just numbers, but they represent countless hours of immersive gameplay enjoyed by millions worldwide.

During their Capital Day Markets 2024 event, Remedy Entertainment unveiled that the sequel to Control, titled “Control 2”, will be an Action Role-Playing Game (RPG), a departure from its predecessor’s Metroidvania action-adventure style. Additionally, they shared updated sales figures for the original Control game.

The popular game “Control” has now exceeded sales of 4.5 million units globally, as announced by its developers, Remedy. This represents an increase from the previous figure of 4 million units earlier in the year. Over its entire lifespan, the game has amassed a player base of 19 million across all platforms, demonstrating its ongoing appeal to gamers worldwide. Next year, Remedy plans to release a free update for “Control”, which will make available previously released content. For more details about this upcoming update, click here.

At present, the sequel to the previously mentioned title is moving through its production readiness phase at Remedy Entertainment. It’s expected to begin full-scale production next year. This upcoming game appears to have been hinted at in the concluding scenes of the recently launched DLC for Alan Wake 2: The Lake House. Remedy Entertainment will be handling its own publication for this game.

The studio is currently also working on FBC: Firebreak, a mid-priced standalone co-op spinoff set in the Control universe that’s due out next year.

Additionally, Remedy has disclosed new data about the sales of Alan Wake 2, revealing that it surpassed 1.8 million copies sold.
