Copium as Second Bloodborne Fan Project Hit by Sony DMCA Takedown

As a contemporary Bloodborne enthusiast, there’s a unique satisfaction that comes from the experience. After a decade, it’s unlikely that we would be thrilled about a remaster or 60fps update at this point, but we might be an exception. Interestingly, Sony has issued a DMCA takedown notice for another Bloodborne fan project, which may not necessarily indicate an upcoming re-release or patch. Instead, it could be due to trademark technicalities.

Lilith Walter, the mind behind Nightmare Kart (previously known as Bloodborne Kart), recently revealed on X that a video from their Bloodborne PSX Demake project was hit with a copyright infringement notice by MarkScan Protection. This is the same agency that took action against Lance McDonald, creator of the Bloodborne 60fps patch, just last week. (Credit to IGN for the information.)

This situation has generally caused a specific level of stress within the community, with certain parts still anxiously clinging to what can be called “Bloodbornium”, a highly charged form of hope often referred to as “copium”. It’s quite possible that their anticipation stems more from Sony’s trademarked name than any imminent, unlikely remaster or remake.

Are you planning to keep battling through the perpetual horror of Bloodbornium and persevere like dedicated factions of its fanbase? Or do you believe that maybe, just maybe, additional instalments of Bloodborne might be forthcoming someday soon? Take a moment to breathe deeply in the comments.
