As a long-time viewer of Coronation Street, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised to see Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths) back on our screens tonight. It seems like an eternity since we last saw him causing trouble on the cobbles, and yet here he is, offering a helping hand to his ex-wife Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
On the fourth of October, 2024, Ciarán Griffiths’ character, Damon Hay, returned unexpectedly on Coronation Street. He intervened by extending a helping hand to his former partner, Sarah Platt, who was facing difficulties at that time.
While Sarah is in Turkey and her daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) recovers following significant surgery that resulted in a permanent stoma, she requested her former spouse, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), to listen through her voicemail messages for her.
In simpler terms, Adam found out that Damon had hidden a large sum of money from a robbery in a storage unit, and that Sarah could access this money for Bethany’s medical expenses if she wished.
In a dilemma about the right course of action, Adam sought advice from his uncle, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who was considering utilizing his son Bertie’s trust fund to cover Bethany’s medical expenses.
Daniel firmly maintained that spending the stolen funds was unlawful and urged Adam to keep it secret from Sarah. However, Adam was intrigued about Damon’s sincerity and decided to verify his honesty by visiting him in prison.
Damon made clear that his intention was genuine in giving money to Sarah. Though he knew their relationship had ended, Damon felt compelled to assist Sarah, and he vowed to call her back only if Adam maintained confidentiality about the matter.
Later on, Adam informed Daniel about his intentions to confer with Sarah and let her make the final call. However, Daniel instructed Adam to erase the voicemail and disregard the matter entirely.
In simpler terms, it’s been officially announced on ITV’s soap opera that Adam will reveal the truth to Sarah, which prompts her to dial Damon’s number.
It’s yet unclear if Sarah will accept his proposal, but the unexpected return of Damon makes us speculate whether he might show up again.
In spite of his questionable actions, Damon left a strong impact on the cobbled streets. There seems to be an endearing aspect to this scoundrel, making this positive development quite appealing.
