As a long-time viewer and avid follower of Coronation Street, I must admit that this latest twist has left me reeling. Ken Barlow, a character I have grown to love over the years, is now in danger due to a seemingly trusted caregiver.

A surprising new plot is unfolding in the current version of Coronation Street, and unlike the ‘Who Killed Joel’ mystery, it’s a different storyline this time around.
Following the surprising revelation that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a victim of grooming, killed Joel to protect her boyfriend Max Turner (Paddy Bever), who has admitted guilt instead, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) announced that she is carrying Joel’s baby.
But away from this storyline, another dark crime was committed on the cobbles.
The morning saw Ken Barlow (William Roache) back home after a vacation overseas, with Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) by his side, taking on the role of caretaker.
With great comfort to his family, Ken shared the difficult news that he would need to part ways with Cassie due to financial reasons, seeing as he could no longer afford to continue paying her wages. Notably, granddaughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) pointed out that this decision was possible now that Ken had fully recuperated from his fall.
At the Bistro, Ken generously bought Cassie a glass of champagne, expressing his gratitude towards her for everything she’d done for him in a warm manner.
As Cassie realized she was jobless, she concealed her sadness when she found out that Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), who was just a casual acquaintance, supported Ken’s decision.
Afterward, Ken consented to employ his expertise and insights to aid Cassie in enhancing her resume. As a result, Cassie eventually reconnected with Ken at his residence.
However, while they conversed and Cassie prepared a warm beverage for Ken, the audience noticed her secretly crushing a pill into Ken’s drink! She followed by administering some of Ken’s regular medication to him afterwards.
It’s been officially revealed that Ken starts feeling sick and requests Cassie to take care of him moving forward.
After Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) reappears to lay down the law, Ken is soon rushed to hospital.
By the close of the week, it’s clear that Cassie has been dismissed – did Steve uncover Cassie’s malicious scheme? Now, let’s see about Ken.
