Coronation Street airs major murder case update in dramatic ITVX episode

As someone who has always admired the grit and resilience of Coronation Street characters, I find myself deeply moved by the latest turn of events in the Joel Deering murder case. Max Turner, a young man with a heart of gold, is trapped behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit, all to protect his lover, Lauren Bolton.

⚠️ Caution: Reveals plot points from tomorrow’s Coronation Street episode (21st November 2024) which can be viewed on ITVX.

In the most recent episode of Coronation Street, there occurred a significant, life-altering development in the Joel Deering/Calum Lill murder case.

Max Turner (played by Paddy Bever) continued imprisoned due to his admission of guilt, as he chose to shield the real culprit, his girlfriend Lauren Bolton (portrayed by Cait Fitton).

In simpler terms, David Platt (played by Jack P Shepherd) hired a skilled attorney to handle Max’s legal issues. However, when his son denied him a visit, David angrily accused Lauren of being responsible for Max’s death and ruining his life.

When he revealed that Julia Goulding’s character’s son, Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison), had tried to take his own life in jail, and hinted at a similar risk for Max, Lauren grew incredibly fearful.

Lauren eventually inquired from Shona whether it was indeed accurate, leading to an emotional conversation that left Lauren in tears, confessing everything honestly to a surprised Shona.

In an attempt to make Shona comprehend that it was Max’s suggestion to take the fall, and that she thought he wouldn’t be punished for the crime, Lauren passed on a letter penned by Max outlining his scheme. This letter was then shown to a furious David by Shona.

David promptly delivered the note to the police, leading to DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) apprehending Lauren, who sobbed and implored not to be separated from her infant son Frankie.

Within the confines of the interview room, Lauren clung to a fabricated account, claiming that Max defended himself when he struck Joel. However, Kit was aware of this deception and presented Max’s letter to challenge her version of events.

With her back against the wall, Lauren admitted that she was the one who delivered the lethal strike, preventing Joel from choking Max.

It came to light that Lauren could very well face murder charges, which left her heartbroken because it seemed possible she might never see Frankie again.

Is Max going to be released, or will he be penalized for corrupting the legal process? And what about Lauren, will she get a long prison term?
