Coronation Street airs outcome of Lauren Bolton’s murder trial in ITVX episode

In a turn of events last year, a character in a precarious position ended up taking the life of her abuser, Joel Deering (Calum Lill), as he was choking her boyfriend, Max Turner (Paddy Bever). However, during her trial this year, the prosecution has presented an unjust and malevolent portrayal of her.

Lauren stayed beside her ailing newborn son Frankie’s crib in the hospital, nervously wishing they wouldn’t have to part ways.

After learning that the jury was unable to reach a decision, Lauren shared her concerns with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown). Dee-Dee told her that the defense attorney had given a particularly strong final argument, which might tip the scales in Lauren’s favor.

Despite Lauren’s reluctance to go back to court upon receiving the verdict, Dee-Dee encouraged her to confront the situation. Not long after, she was declared ‘not guilty’, causing her to weep in relief.

Max felt a surge of excitement and followed Lauren back to the hospital. What remained as a challenge was the matter of Joel’s parents, Gus (Chris Garner) and Anthea (Carol Royle), who intended to contest for guardianship over their grandson, Frankie.

In a bold move, Gus burst into Frankie’s space, mocking Lauren while picking up the young child, yet Lauren stood up for herself, firmly letting Gus know that he was not going to continue mistreating her, asserting her dignity and self-respect.

She argued that the way Gus raised his children, similar to how her own father had raised her to harbor resentment, was responsible for everything that had transpired. However, Lauren has undergone a transformation, and she would not permit Gus to take Frankie away unless he were to eliminate her first.

Lauren took her son back, and Max was in awe as she sent Gus on his way.
