Coronation Street airs Rowan trial outcome amid Leanne scheme in ITVX episode

As a lifelong soap opera enthusiast who’s seen more twists and turns than a rollercoaster ride, I must say that Leanne Battersby’s latest antics on Coronation Street have me hooked! The girl knows how to play the long game, and her scheme against Toyah and Nick is as intriguing as it is audacious.

In simple terms, the final judgment has been delivered in the trial of Coronation Street’s antagonist Rowan Cunliffe (played by Emrhys Cooper), but a new wave of conflict is brewing for vindictive character Leanne Battersby (portrayed by Jane Danson).

Realizing that her stepsister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) has been keeping a secret relationship with Leanne’s former partner, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Leanne chose not to address the situation directly, but rather decided to return to living in the flat instead.

Anticipating her testimony against Rowan, Leanne sought solace by appearing to lean on Nick for comfort, intentionally displaying this gesture in the presence of an exasperated Toyah.

As a movie enthusiast, in the heat of the courtroom, I found myself squaring off against Rowan’s defense attorney. Just when the spotlight shifted to Nick, delving into his affair and the blackmail orchestrated by none other than Rowan, Nick passionately leaped to Leanne’s defense.

However, as it was Leanne’s chance, Rowan gave a smug smile, which set Leanne off on an angry tirade, accusing him of ruining her life.

Rowan responded, insisting that Leanne had instigated her own downfall, not him!

As I stood outside, I approached Nick about his growing closeness with Leanne, but still, I decided to meet up with him at my hotel later on, despite the circumstances.

Leanne kept up the act of being puzzled, yet cleverly prevented Nick and Toyah from spending time alone by pretending to be vulnerable and inviting Nick out for a drink instead.

As I picked up Nick’s phone upon Toyah’s call, I shared with her how Nick had been an unwavering pillar of support. In our subsequent conversation, I walked him through the disintegration of our relationship, recounting events and feelings from my unique vantage point.

In my critique, I found myself captivated by Leanne’s performance as the lovelorn former partner of Nick. She embraced her character’s dramatic flair, delivering an impassioned kiss and a heartfelt declaration that they were destined to be together – a sentiment that left me both intrigued and slightly skeptical about their romantic future.

She earnestly asked Nick to reunite with her, while he concealed his feelings for Toyah and agreed to consider her proposal.

The announcement of the court’s decision unexpectedly disrupted their conversation, and those affected flocked to The Rovers, rejoicing over Rowan being declared guilty (although it wasn’t shown on screen) and Amy receiving compensation.

In private with an unconventional ally, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Leanne shared that she had a strategic plan in motion concerning Toyah and Nick, as they were overheard talking about Leanne’s desire for reconciliation.

At home, Leanne discovered Toyah’s passport, then delightfully shared with her the recent updates about Nick.

Later on, Toyah chose to distance herself from Nick, finding it hard to accept Nick’s timidity regarding Leanne’s matters.

While Leanne was adding a picture of Toyah’s passport, she established a bank account using Toyah’s name. However, one may wonder about Leanne’s ultimate plan?
