For devotees of Coronation Street, the upcoming year may bring a mix of sorrow and joy, as Sue Cleaver bids farewell to the series after a remarkable 25-year run as Eileen Grimshaw. However, her departure plot is set to introduce once again a cherished character who has been dearly missed.
Confirmation has come in that Katy Cavanagh is set to reappear on the cobblestones as Julie Carp, Eileen’s sibling, following a nearly decade-long absence from the screen.
Cavanagh is currently shooting scenes, while Julie is set to come to Weatherfield on the 21st of February. This visit precedes Sue’s departure from Weatherfield, which is expected in the late spring.

During the years from 2008 to 2015, Cavanagh initially appeared on the show. Her character, Julie, ended up leaving the street after falling in love with Brian Packham, the newsagent, and they departed together. However, their relationship didn’t last, and Brian came back without her.
There’s a significant shift happening in Coronation Street as several key characters are departing. Recently, Helen Worth and Luca Toolan exited the show, while Cleaver is preparing to leave.
