As a seasoned soap opera aficionado, I have to say, it’s always a treat to see familiar faces return to our favorite shows! The news of Catherine Tyldesley possibly reprising her role as Eva Price on Coronation Street has me reminiscing about the good old days.
I’ve been following soap operas for over two decades now, and I can tell you that the comeback of beloved characters never fails to ignite a spark of excitement among fans. It’s like reuniting with an old friend after years apart. And Eva Price is certainly one character I’d love to see back on the cobbles again.
With Catherine Tyldesley’s recent stint in The Good Ship Murder, it seems she’s keeping busy with new projects, but I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of her on our screens just yet. If the storyline is right and the timing works out, I can imagine Eva striding back onto Coronation Street with the same panache that made us fall in love with her in the first place.
And who knows? Perhaps this could be the start of a new trend for soap operas – bringing back characters from years past to breathe fresh life into their storylines and keep viewers engaged. After all, if Grant Mitchell can return to Albert Square after all these years, why not Eva Price to Weatherfield?
Oh, and as a little joke, I’d say: If they ever decide to bring Adam Barlow back too, I half expect him to show up with a French accent – or at least some baguettes and cheese!
It’s hinted that one of Coronation Street’s dearest characters, Eva Price, might make a comeback to the cobblestones, but not just yet.
Catherine Tyldesley, who portrayed her role between 2011 and 2018, shared that she’s been offered a return to the soap several times. Although she hasn’t made a decision just yet, she has not definitively closed the door on this possibility.
As a long-time fan of Coronation Street, I can’t help but feel nostalgic whenever I think back to my days working on that iconic set. Over the years, I’ve been asked to return multiple times, but alas, life has taken me in other directions with exciting projects and opportunities. Though it’s bittersweet to miss out on revisiting those familiar streets, I cherish the memories of the friendships forged and stories shared during my time there. It will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my early acting experiences that truly shaped who I am today.
If someone presented me with an exceptional plot idea at the right moment, I’d definitely consider returning. So, it’s more like ‘I might return,’ rather than ‘I will never return.’
In the plot development, Eva moved on to reside in France together with her baby Susie, whereas Adam Barlow chose to remain in Weatherfield.
Recently, Tyldesley can be spotted playing a role in “The Good Ship Murder,” a crime thriller airing on Channel 5 that features Shayne Ward as well. The series takes place aboard a luxury cruise liner.
The series made a comeback over the holidays with a special episode after wrapping up its initial run in 2023, and seasons two and three have been scheduled for 2025 and beyond, respectively.
It turns out that one of the main actors from the show, Claire Sweeney, won’t return for season 2 due to a peculiar clash in her schedule with her ongoing projects at Coronation Street.
It’s not surprising that a bar of soap could revive an old character – given that Ross Kemp is set to reappear on EastEnders’ Albert Square as Grant Mitchell in 2025, having played the role from 1990 to 1999 and again between 2005 and 2006, with a short comeback in 2016.
