Coronation Street star says goodbye as she films final scenes after 25 years on soap

Only a few months following Helen Worth’s departure from Coronation Street after five decades, another long-standing cast member has recently bid farewell after being part of the soap for 25 years.

For the time being, Eileen Grimshaw is still part of the series, but it won’t be long before she exits, as actress Sue Cleaver has already completed filming her last scenes.

She is seen surrounded by flowers and gifts, as she smiles and gives two thumbs up.

Initially, when Cleaver shared the news about her leaving, she expressed to The Sun on Sunday: “I’ve enjoyed a remarkable 25-year career on Coronation Street.

As the door remains ajar, I found myself at the threshold of my 60th year, recognizing that it was high time for me to welcome change, seek out fresh experiences, and live boldly.

In a statement, producer Kate Brooks expressed regret at saying goodbye to the talented Sue Cleaver.

For the last 25 years, Eileen Grimshaw has played a significant role in many unforgettable and renowned Coronation Street plotlines. Her intense on-screen feud with Gail Platt may very well become part of Coronation Street legend.

Without a doubt, there isn’t anyone quite similar to Eileen, and her unique personality will be profoundly missed on the cobblestones. We extend our warmest wishes to Sue as she begins anew on her remarkable journey.

Before viewers witness Eileen’s exit on-screen, there’s still a lot of dramatic action left, such as the reappearance of Ryan Thomas portraying Jason Grimshaw.

This year, Cleaver is scheduled to participate in the live event “An Evening with Coronation Street,” which will take place in London on September 14, 2025.
