Coronation Street star spotted on set months after exit – will a character join Damon in prison?

As a devoted Coronation Street fan with over two decades of viewing under my belt, I must say, the potential return of Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths) has me all aflutter! The last time we saw Damon, he was being whisked away to prison for armed robbery – a twist that left me reeling and reaching for another cup of builders’ tea.

It appears that, after several months, Damon Hay (played by Ciarán Griffiths), who was jailed for armed robbery on Coronation Street, might make a comeback to the show in the near future.

As reported by The Sun, actor Hayden Griffiths was recently seen filming on the soap opera’s set in Manchester’s Media City. A source revealed that although this might not mean a comeback for his character, it could hint at another character being sent to prison where Hay is currently incarcerated.

Back in March, Damon, a character from Griffith’s series, was given a six-year sentence for armed robbery. Consequently, he is not due for release any time in the near future.

In a turn of events, Damon admitted guilt for the crimes he was accused of, received his sentence, and subsequently ended his relationship with Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien). It was later discovered that it wasn’t him but his brother, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), who had devised the new strategy to eliminate the driver in question.

The siblings had a significant disagreement about various matters, and Damon eventually confessed that he’d renounced criminal activities permanently – though it’s questionable if this is true. With Damon behind bars, they were tasked with managing the family enterprise together.

At that point in time, when queried about his return, Griffiths remarked: “I believe there’s still much potential in him, we’re curious to see how things unfold between him and Sarah, also between him and Adam. Particularly after Adam betrayed him last time, causing him to flee.”

In other words, it seems quite possible that Damon might come back, but we’re unsure about his role. Let’s keep an eye out to find out.
