Coronation Street’s Colson Smith breaks silence on when he was told about Craig Tinker’s axing

As a die-hard soap opera fan, I’ve got some personal news to share – after an incredible 14-year journey, I’m bidding adieu to the set of Coronation Street, where I’ve played the role of Craig Tinker. It’s been an unforgettable ride!

In a recent social media update, the actor shared that he learned back in the fall of last year that his character would no longer be featured in the ITV soap.

Last fall, I learned that Craig Tinker’s tenure on the Cobbles will conclude in 2025,” he noted.

For the past 14 years, living on what I consider the best street globally has been an absolute joy for me. I’ve felt extremely fortunate to spend my childhood not only on this street but also within its surroundings – Coronation Street.

As a film enthusiast, I’ve gleaned most of my life lessons from the characters that inhabit these celluloid worlds. I can’t wait to help write the final chapter for our beloved Craigy. To me, this feels like the end of the beginning, not the end of the story itself.

“I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. Long live the cobbles!”

Lucy Fallon, the actress portraying Bethany Platt, expressed: “After drying my tears, I’m thrilled to see you conquer the day ahead!

Following the announcement that Sue Cleaver and Helen Worth are leaving their roles in the soap after 25 years as Eileen Grimshaw and Rita Tanner respectively, Smith has also decided to depart from the show.
