Cosmere RPG Becomes Biggest TTRPG Crowdfunding Campaign of All Time

As a lifelong fan of Brandon Sanderson’s works and an ardent tabletop RPG enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement over the success of the Cosmere RPG Kickstarter campaign! Breaking the $10 million mark is no small feat, especially considering the previous record was set only a year ago. This game promises to bring the rich and intricate worlds of the Cosmere to life in a way that has never been done before.

The “Cosmere RPG” Kickstarter campaign, run by Brotherwise Games, has shattered the record for the largest tabletop RPG crowdfunding effort. Launched just this month, it surpassed the $9.5 million record set by “Avatar Legends” in 2021, amassing over $10.366 million. This is a historic milestone as it’s the first time a tabletop RPG crowdfunding campaign has exceeded the $10 million mark on any platform.

The “Cosmere Role-Playing Game” is a brand-new gaming platform tailored exclusively for the literary creations of author Brandon Sanderson. Most of his novels, albeit numerous series, are set in the Cosmere, an interconnected solar system comprising planets with magic systems that share a common ancestry and host recurring characters across all books. The Cosmere can be savored individually as standalone novels; however, a comprehensive narrative unfolds primarily within the books of the “Stormlight Archives” and “Mistborn”. Initially, the worlds of these two series will be delved into by the “Cosmere RPG”, with the “Stormlight RPG” due in 2025 and the “Mistborn RPG” following suit in 2026. Among other items for these upcoming releases are detailed guides to both book worlds, offering fresh insights and expanded descriptions.

As an enthusiast, I’d say the game’s design features a skill-building system where I can tailor my characters uniquely by choosing to master one profession or magic system, or even dabble in multiple classes for a versatile approach. The game operates on a D20 system, reminiscent of Dungeons & Dragons, but with its own distinct magical mechanics. Furthermore, it incorporates a Fate die, a six-sided die that can either introduce exciting possibilities or unexpected challenges to the outcome of my rolls. This game places significant emphasis on the storyline, making it more immersive and engaging.

The crowdfunding campaign for the Cosmere RPG will end this week. You can check out additional details about the game over on Kickstarter.
