Could Selling Sunset survive without Chrishell Stause?

Could Selling Sunset survive without Chrishell Stause?

As a long-time fan of Selling Sunset, I must admit that watching Chrishell’s journey over the seasons has been quite captivating. From her tumultuous romantic entanglements to her professional growth within the Oppenheim Group, it seems like the pressure of maintaining this public persona has finally taken its toll on her.

It’s clear that the original cast member has expressed her intention to leave the show, but does this decision signal the demise of the popular series on Netflix?

Initially, we got acquainted with Selling Sunset by viewing it from Chrishell Stause‘s perspective. As a novice agent at the Oppenheim Group real estate agency, the small-screen actress – feeling like a fish out of water in an ultra-glamorous Los Angeles environment – served as our guide, showing us a lavish LA lifestyle that many can only experience through their Netflix subscriptions.

From the very start of episode 1, she has undeniably been the main focus and anchor of the series, offering a steadfast presence amidst luxury homes that were overshadowed by the constant drama surrounding the succession of attractive females populating the office.

However, moving on to the freshly unveiled Season 8, it’s apparent that Chrishell is prepared to leave the series, and there’s a possibility that Emma Hernan and Chelsea Lazkani might follow suit.

Before the Season 8 episodes were broadcasted, Chrishell openly expressed her anger regarding the allegations in the episodes a full week ahead of their public release.

Could Selling Sunset survive without Chrishell Stause?

Unmistakably clear, Chrishell openly criticized the production company and her colleagues Mary Fitzgerald, Nicole Young, and Bre Tiesi, accusing them of contributing to the controversies that arose during the recent episodes.

In this group, it was noticed that Nicole implied Emma had been involved romantically with a married man, whereas Bre, as they perceived, arranged situations to include the newcomer, Amanda Lynn.

In a recent development, Amanda – who has faced criticism due to past controversial statements discovered on X (previously known as Twitter) – contacted Bre and subsequently had an on-screen meeting with her. During this encounter, Amanda made accusations about Jeff Lazkani, Chelsea’s now-separated spouse, being involved in an affair.

Bre wrestled with the information, before having a one-to-one with Chelsea to inform her of what she’d heard.

In a surprising turn of events, Chrishell stood as a strong pillar of support for both the women, demonstrating their growth since Chelsea initially joined the show with the intention of causing conflict with her. Later on, Chrishell expressed her views on Nicole’s comments via Instagram, implicitly backing Chelsea’s criticism of Bre in the process.

From among the numerous posts Chrishell made, she labeled Nicole as ‘unworthy’ and stated emphatically: “I will never participate in a show with her involved again. It would be preferable for me to face legal action.

Later on, she asserted that the production company caught Emma off-guard by presenting Nicole’s accusations, denying her a chance during the show to offer a rebuttal.

Following the debut of season 8, Chrishell has become even more vocal about her stance, telling Extra TV: “I will not collaborate on a show with [Nicole] again. After spending eight seasons witnessing someone attempting to undermine multiple individuals, why are we still giving her so much attention? When someone is merely seeking screen time and tells lies, the viewers have grown tired of it.

viewers can clearly see that Chrishell and Nicole have a strained relationship, as they frequently had heated disagreements throughout seasons 6 and 7.

In response to being given credit for a shared house sale, Nicole implied that Chrishell had received her listings not due to her skills, but allegedly because of an intimate relationship with their boss, Jason, at the time.

In response, Chrishell accused Nicole of using drugs, an allegation that Nicole firmly refuted. Given their history, it’s no surprise that they’ve found themselves in another disagreement.

However, considering her pivotal role in Selling Sunset, it seems unlikely that Chrishell’s storyline has come to an end. Without its main star, a series may struggle to maintain its charm.

Over the past several seasons, there’s been a noticeable change in the show’s atmosphere. Specifically, the departure of charismatic villain Christine Quinn during season 5 seems to have thrown Selling Sunset off balance as they try to regroup and adapt.

Christine served as a counterpoint to Chrishell’s tranquil demeanor. While Chrishell consistently worked hard to maintain harmony among the group, occasionally at her own expense, Christine seemed to revel in turbulence, leading to disagreements and confrontations with several cast members. Her sudden departure left visible fissures within Selling Sunset, particularly among fans.

Christine’s departure significantly advanced Chrishell’s role within the series, leading to increased emotional vulnerability from her. The disintegration of her marriage to Justin Hartley from This Is Us, multiple setbacks in her efforts to start a family, and the season 6 development and eventual ending of her year-long relationship with Jason Oppenheim Group’s boss were all aspects viewers witnessed on screen.

It wouldn’t be inaccurate to observe that Chrishell seemed to be growing weary under the stress of the series, a trend that became more pronounced in 2022 when she revealed her new romance with the Australian non-binary artist G-Flip.

Since their marriage, Chrishell has found a sense of tranquility and is seeking mostly serenity in her life. However, this newfound calmness brings a decreased tolerance for engaging in further dramas.

In contrast to those around her, Chrishell found herself deeply engrossed by G-Flip, their tours, and exploring the globe together. Balancing her life between Los Angeles and Australia, where G-Flip hails from, became her primary focus. Acting opportunities resumed, eventually securing her a guest role on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, filmed in Melbourne, causing her to spend increasingly more time away from her job at the brokerage and her close-knit circle of friends.

In a nurturing and strengthening bond, Chrishell gained the resolve to decline filming certain scenarios, especially those likely to instigate disagreements. Frankly, she found herself too busy to engage in such conflicts any longer.

It appears that Selling Sunset and those associated with it are among the factors causing her distress, and this has become particularly apparent during season 8, which might have pushed her to her limit.

Chrishell nearly skipped attending her good friend Amanza’s birthday celebration to steer clear of an encounter with Amanza’s stylist who had labeled her as a “pretend lesbian” and alleged that G-Flip was exploiting Chrishell for a green card. Needless to say, this situation enraged, upset, and made Chrishell reluctant to be in his presence.

Even though she faced some personal criticisms, Amanza chose to minimize Chrishell’s annoyances and remained supportive of her teammate because “he doesn’t charge her for his work.

Could Selling Sunset survive without Chrishell Stause?

During the show, Chrishell’s efforts as a mediator between Chelsea and Bre appeared to bring some progress, but it’s clear from the gap between filming and broadcast that their friendship has since deteriorated.

However, their relationship with Emma and Chelsea has only become stronger, forming a formidable trio at the Oppenheim Group and in the reality series Selling Sunset. It appears that a change or resolution is imminent for this group dynamic.

Currently, she seems attached to the Oppenheim Group primarily due to sentimental attachment towards Brett and Jason Oppenheim, and friendly relationships with Mary, Emma, and Chelsea. If these individuals were no longer part of the group, it’s unclear what would keep her there.

It seems possible that Chrishell might be leaving the office for good, and not come back wearing her Louboutin shoes.

Time will reveal whether she’ll follow through on her threats and depart the show if Bre, Amanda, and Nicole persist in their roles, but for now, it appears that she is serious about her intentions.

It seems that not many people are acknowledging just how crucial Chrishell is to the success of Selling Sunset. With her, as our guide through the series and one of its few consistent elements, the show maintains a sense of grounding. Without her, it appears the show could lose its footing.

Brett, Jason, Chrishell and Mary are the only four stars to be in every series. Brett and Jason are supporting players in the story, and Mary largely tries to keep out of trouble. Chrishell’s the driving force, whether other cast members want to admit it or not.

If she decides to leave, she might erase the very basis of the series that’s been a hit on Netflix, which would make it extremely challenging for them to continue.

This truly could be the closing offer on the series.
