As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the innovative duo, Publishers The CoLab and Developers Team Empreintes, have graced us with their latest creation – the captivating conversational campfire game titled “Fireside Feelings”. Now available on PC through Steam!
In a recent press statement, Team Empreintes CEO Victor Dulon noted that the current world can be overwhelming for numerous reasons. He emphasized that amidst the continuous strain on our professional, political, and personal lives, we may overlook the feelings of joy, kindness, and empathy that genuine conversations evoke.
In contrast to the digitally-driven environments that fuel disagreement and discord among individuals, our aim is to construct an alternative haven. A place where participants can relax and unwind. A place that prioritizes understanding, empathy, and thoughtful, unhurried dialogues. Our goal with Fireside Feelings is to stimulate feelings of joy, release, and connection through the seemingly ordinary yet profound act of exchanging words under the night sky.
Here is an overview of the game, via The CoLab:
Under the belief that “sharing deep conversations while gazing at the stars benefits everyone,” Fireside Feelings encourages players to engage in meaningful and compassionate discussions on a variety of, occasionally complex, topics.
Players select and personalize their character from six diverse animal options such as a dapper bear in suit, a buzzing barista bee, or a cool skateboarding fox. Upon choosing, players embark on an adventure through tranquil settings like a beach, forest, and even a music store.
In that location, they’ll encounter Spark, an intelligent campfire acting as their guide, posing a sequence of thought-provoking questions under the night sky. Across the fire sits another creature, reflecting the responses given by a different player to the same questions, fostering a deep, yet unbalanced discussion on the chosen subject.
In order to ensure maximum security for players, Fireside Feelings hides the identities of both responses and in-game characters by anonymizing them. The replies you receive during your campfire interactions are pre-selected from a library of dialogues that have been carefully moderated.
Additionally, potentially distressing subjects such as violence, self-injury, mental health issues, among others, can be excluded from conversation within the game at its onset or through the main menu to ensure they don’t provoke players who might find these themes triggering.
As an enthusiast, I’ve been thrilled to witness Team Empreintes and The CoLab collaborate with Safe In Our World, the charitable organization dedicated to mental health in the gaming industry. They’ve incorporated a link within the gaming experience that leads players directly to the Safe In Our World website. Here, gamers can easily find resources and support tailored to their needs.
